Subject: Our Daughters are a Blessing, Not a Burden!!

Allah Almighty, through the Waseela of His Beloved SallAllahu Alaihi wa Sallam have once again blessed me with His RaHmah, A Baby Girl al Hamdu Lillah on Wednesday, 29th Jumada al-Awwal i.e. 10th April 2013 at 3:30pm approx. All my brothers and sisters are requested to keep our daughters remembered in their pious and precious prayers... May Allah bless you immensely with the better reward!!

OUR DAUGHTERS ARE A BLESSING, NOT A BURDEN!!

Children are no doubt a great gift from Almighty Allah to all parents. Parents must think of their children as such treasures that the all the wealth and material resources are worthless as when compared to one's children. We, as parents, should thank and be grateful to Almighty Allah for blessing us with children whether they are boys or girls. Today, it is quite disheartening to see that some parents rejoice when the newborn child is a male and show their dissatisfaction when the child is a female. But, this should not be the attitude. Islam does not condone this type of behavior, as such was the manner of the parents in the time of ignorance.

In pre-Islamic times, the Arabs used to be disheartened and annoyed with the birth of girls, so that a father, when informed his wife had given birth to a girl, said,
"By Allah she is not as blissful as a son; her defense is crying and her care is but stealing!"

He meant she could not defend her father and her family except by screaming and crying, not by fighting and carrying arms. She also cannot be good to them and care for them except by taking from her husband's money to give to her family. Their traditions allowed the father to bury his daughter alive for actual poverty, or for expected poverty, or out of fear of a disgrace she might bring upon them when she grew up. In that context, the Qur'an says, denouncing and derogating them:

"And when the girl-child who was buried alive is asked. Upon what sin was she killed for." [Surah al-Takweer, Verses 8-9]

https://fbcdn-sphotos-g-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-prn1/541851_10151352866760334_107864869_n.jpg

The Qur'an also describes the condition of fathers when daughters were born:

"And when one among of them receives the glad tidings of a daughter, his face turns black for the day, and he remains seething. Hiding from the people because of the evil of the tidings; "Will he keep her with disgrace, or bury her beneath the earth?"; pay heed! Very evil is the judgment they impose!"  [Surah al-Nahl, Verse 58-59]

The Qur'an led an uncompromising campaign against those cruel people who kill children-whether male or female. Allah says in the Qur'an:

"Indeed ruined are those who slay their children out of senseless ignorance and forbid the sustenance which Allah has bestowed upon them, in order to fabricate lies against Allah; they have undoubtedly gone astray and not attained the path." [Surah al-Anaam, Verse 140]

And Allah Almighty says:

"And do not kill your children, fearing poverty; We shall provide sustenance to them as well as to you; indeed killing them is a great mistake." [Surah Bani Israel, Verse 31]

https://fbcdn-sphotos-f-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-prn1/562596_10151352867855334_573390178_n.jpg

Some ancient laws gave the father the right to sell his daughter if he wished; while others allowed him to hand her to another man who would either kill her or own her if the father killed the other man's daughter.

When Islam was revealed, it decreed a daughter - like a son - was a gift from Allah, to be granted to whomever Allah wishes of His worshipers:

"For Allah only is the kingship of the heavens and the earth; He creates whatever He wills; He may bestow daughters to whomever He wills, and sons to whomever He wills. Or may mix them, the sons and daughters; and may make barren whomever He wills; indeed He is All Knowing, Able." [Surah al-Shoora, Verses 49-50]
The Prophet (blessings and peace be upon him) of Islam made Paradise the recompense of every father who conducts himself well with his daughters, has patience in raising them, provides their moral education, and observes Allah's commands concerning them until they come of age or until his . The Prophet (blessings and peace be upon him) made the place of the father in Paradise next to him. Hadrat Anas reported that the Messenger of Allah SallAllahu Alaihi wa Sallam said,

"Whoever brings up two girls till they reach the age of puberty, he and I will come on the Day of Resurrection like this," (and he joined his blessed fingers.)

https://fbcdn-sphotos-h-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-snc7/580341_10151352867360334_476817444_n.jpg

The beloved Prophet (Peace and Blessings of Allah be Upon Him) has stated that

"When a boy is born, then he brings one Noor (light) and when a girl is born, then she brings two Noors."

It has been narrated in a Hadith that the Holy Prophet (Peace and Blessings of Allah be Upon Him) has stated that

"If parents are kind and generous towards their daughters, then they will be so close to Him (The Holy Prophet Peace and Blessings of Allah be Upon Him) in Jannah, like one finger is to the next."

The Holy Prophet (Peace and Blessings of Allah be Upon Him) has also stated that

"The person who is faced with hardship due to his daughters, and makes Sabr (is patient), then his daughters will be a Pardah (curtain) between him and the Hell-fire."
Hadrat Ibn 'Abbas reported that the Messenger of Allah SallAllahu Alaihi wa Sallam said,

"...and whoever brings up three daughters or a like number of sisters, training them well and showing kindness to them till Allah enriches them (i.e. till they reach the age of puberty), Allah will guarantee Paradise for him." A man asked: "O Messenger of Allah! Does this apply to two also?" He said: "even to two." If they had asked whether to one also, the Messenger of Allah would have said that, "even to one..."

https://fbcdn-sphotos-g-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-prn1/17300_10151352868485334_1464826509_n.jpg

Sayyiduna Ibn 'Abbas (Radi Allahu Ta'ala Anhu) recounted,

"Whoever had a female who was not buried nor insulted by him, and had not preferred his male children to her, Allah admits him to Paradise."
Daughters are without doubt a great blessing from Almighty Allah. They are a means of salvation and a path to Jannah (Heaven) for their parents. The crux of one narration states that

"One who loves his daughters and withstands the hardship of grooming and getting them married, Almighty Allah makes Jannah compulsory (Waajib) on him and keeps him protected from the Fire of Hell."

And in another Hadith, the beloved Prophet SallAllaho Alaihi wa Sallam said:

"They will be a shield for him from the Fire."

The beloved Prophet SallAllahu Alaihi wa Sallam commanded:

"Whenever you buy anything from the market place first present it to your female children then to your male children."
https://fbcdn-sphotos-f-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-prn1/536250_10151352870600334_747544524_n.jpg

Hadrat Khwaja Uthman al-Haaroni (Radi Allahu Ta'ala Anhu), the Spiritual Guide (Peer-o-Murshid) of Khwaja-e-Khwajgaan, Hadrat Shaykh Mu'een al-Din Khwaja Ghareeb Nawaaz Chishti Ajmeri (Radi Allahu Ta'ala Anhu), states:

"Daughters are a gift from Almighty Allah. Those parents who are kind towards them, then Almighty Allah is generous towards such parents. Those who are merciful to their daughters, Almighty Allah is Merciful towards them."

The great saint, Hadrat Khwaja Uthman Harooni (Radi Allahu Ta'ala Anhu) also said,

"When a girl is born to a family, then between the parents and Hell, there shall be a distance of five hundred years."

It has been stated that:

When parents rejoice at the birth of a daughter, this is greater than making Tawaaf of the Kaaba seventy times.

When Imam Ahmad Ibn Hanbal (Radi Allahu Ta'ala Anhu) would hear that one of his relatives or friends had a baby girl, he would say to them,

"Congratulations for the Prophets were mostly fathers of daughters."

https://fbcdn-sphotos-d-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-ash3/522423_10151352871520334_568508435_n.jpg

Muslims should also remember that the family of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (Peace and Blessings of Allah be Upon Him) is from his beloved daughter Sayyidah Fatima Zahra (Radi Allahu Ta'ala Anha).

With these open and authentic texts, with the enhanced and repeated good news, the birth of girls is not at all a fearful burden nor is it a bad omen. On the contrary, it is a blessing to be thanked for and a mercy to be desired and requested because it is a blessing of the Almighty and a reward to be gained.

Dear brothers and sisters! Rejoice on the birth of your daughters, love and guide them and give them that which is due to them from your belongings. Do not deprive them of their inheritance as they also have say in this. Remember! Daughters are a blessing and not a burden.

                       As-Salaam Alaykum Wa-Rahmatullahi Wa-Barakaatuh

             ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Families are the building blocks of a society

A building is just as stable as its foundation. If you want to build a high-rise house then you need a strong foundation that can support such a building. It is the same for a society, if you want to have a strong society or nation you need a foundation that can support such a society, give it strength and develop it.

As Muslims we are commended by Allah to establish a strong nation, a society that implements the rules and laws of Allah and invites other people to Islam through good examples. "You are the best nation raised up (as an example) for mankind. You enjoin what is right and forbid what is wrong and believe in Allah." (Qur'an, 3:110)

The Islamic Ummah was raised to command what is right and forbid what is wrong and to believe in Allah. "Let there arise from you a nation inviting to good, enjoining what is right and forbidding what is wrong, and those will be the successful." (Qur'an, 3:104)

These commands of Allah remind us that it is the obligation of a Muslim society to raise a generation that can live up to this task, and the groundwork for this task is importing the basic education of the family.

It is in the family, that a man and a woman come together to bring a new generation to life, which becomes the future community. It is here, in the family, that the next generation to run our society learns its values, ethics and behavior.

The future success of society depends on the performance of each and every single family in raising their kids, and the performance of every generation is just a reflection of the efforts of their parent's generation."

Every one of you (people) is a shepherd. And every one is responsible for whatever falls under his responsibility. A man is like a shepherd of his own family, and he is responsible for them." (Bukhari and Muslim)

The family is the basis, the backbone of society, and the backbone of the family is the division of labor between husband and wife, and the upbringing of children is the most important function of the family. This job-sharing system within the family is part of Islam. By His wisdom Allah has made the man responsible for providing for the family, an obligation which cannot be passed on to his wife under normal circumstances.

Therefore, it is the responsibility of the wife to take care of his house and their children.Such a family provides a perfect environment for the development of Islamic values and moral standards, which can be passed on to the next generation.

Many societies, today, find it more important for women to join the workforce in order to add to the materialistic gains of the nation. In these societies material production is considered more important, more valuable and more honorable than upbringing the children and developing them into good human beings.

Women in such societies are encouraged to neglect their duties toward their families and their children in the name of `emancipation' and `ambition'.

In such a scenario, life is based on building a career, acquiring wealth and spending it on worldly luxuries, and the task of raising kids is left to others, for example, maids or nannies. Thus, if this is the situation, how can we build a true `Islamic' society based on the true teachings of Allah and His Messenger.

The Marriage Process in Islam
By Shaad Ahmed

Before Marrying

Selecting a Spouse
The first thing we should look for when marrying is how committed the person is to Islam.

Prophet Muhammad (sallallahu alayhi was sallam) said, "A woman is normally sought as a wife for her wealth, beauty, nobility, or religiousness (adherence to Islam), but choose a religious woman and you will prosper." (Muslim)

And he said, "A woman is married for four things, I.e., her wealth, her family status, her beauty and her religion. You should marry the religious woman (otherwise) you will be a loser."(Bukhari) And he said, "The whole world is a provision, and the best object of benefit of the world is the pious woman." (Muslim)

The same holds true when looking for a husband, as the Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi was sallam) said, "When someone with whose religion and character you are satisfied asks to marry your daughter, comply with his request. If you do not do so, there will be corruption and great evil on earth." (Tirmidhi)

Of course, both parties have to agree to marry one another and they can not be forced to marry one another.
The Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi was sallam) said, "A woman whom has been previously married has more right concerning herself than her guardian, and a virgins consent must be asked about herself…" (Bukhari and Muslim)

Rules of Al-Khutbah
(Request to marry a woman and the acceptance of the proposal)

The man has permission to see her face before agreeing to marry as the Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi was sallam) said, "Go and look at her (the woman you are considering marrying) because this will help your time together to be strengthened." (Ahmad)

After a man and woman have agreed to marry, they have to remember that the man is still not her mahram (men prohibited to her, including her father, brothers, sons, maternal and paternal uncles, and nephews). This means they can not still deal with one another as partners in any way (such as shaking hands, gazing at one another, being alone together, going out together, etc.), or go out with one another as we see people in the west doing.

Prophet Muhammad (sallallahu alayhi was sallam) said, "Whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day, let him not have a private audience with a woman without her mahram." (Ahmad)

The Wedding Ceremony (Nikaah)

Components

1 – Consent: Aishah (R) asked Prophet Muhammad (sallallahu alayhi was sallam) if womem must be asked for their permission of marriage. Prophet Muhammad (sallallahu alayhi was sallam) replied, "Yes."
She said, The virgin is asked for her permission but she gets shy.
Prophet Muhammad (sallallahu alayhi was sallam) said, "Her silence is her permission." (Bukhari and Muslim)

2 – The Wallee (Woman's Guardian): Prophet Muhammad (sallallahu alayhi was sallam) said, "There is no nikaah except with a wallee." (Ahmad, Abu Dawood, Tirmidhi)

3 – Two Witnesses: Prophet Muhammad (sallallahu alayhi was sallam) said, "There is no marriage except with a wallee and trustworthy witnesses." (Sahih - Bayhaqee) Also, "There is no marriage except with a wallee and two witnesses." (Sahih Al-Jaami')

4 – The Mahr (Dowry): Allah says (what means): "And give to the women their dowry with a good heart, but if they out of their own good pleasure remit any part of it to you, take it and enjoy it without fear of any harm." (Al-Nisa 4:4)
The mahr can be of any amount, Prophet Muhammad (sallallahu alayhi was sallam) said, "Look for one even if it was an iron ring." (Bukhari and Muslim)

The woman is not obliged to give the man anything at the time of the wedding, as is done in some cultures.

Acts to be Avoided

We should be careful to not act as the disbelievers do regarding their mixing of men and women, wearing tuxedos and white wedding gowns, exchanging rings, kissing in public, etc.
Prophet Muhammad (sallallahu alayhi was sallam) said, "Whoever resembles a people is one of them." (Abu Dawood)

After the Wedding

Supporting Ones Wife

The man is responsible for providing for his wife, as Allah says (what means), "Let the wealthy man spend according to his means; and let the man whose provisions are restricted spend according to what Allah has given him. Allah does not burden a soul beyond what He has given it, and Allah will grant ease after a hardship." (Al-Talaq 65:7)

Islam even gives women the right to take secretly money from their husbands if the husbands are not providing for them. Hind, the wife of Abu Sufyan, came to Prophet Muhammad (sallallahu alayhi was sallam) and said, "O Messenger of Allah, Abu Sufyan is a stingy man and does not give me and my children enough provisions except when I take something from him with out his knowledge." Prophet Muhammad (sallallahu alayhi was sallam) said, "Take what is reasonably sufficient for you and your children." (Bukhari and Muslim)

Educating Ones Family

Since the man has put in the position of providing for his family, he must also provide them with the proper Islamic education to keep them from the hellfire.

Allah says (what means), "O you who believe! Save yourselves and your families from a fire whose fuel is men and stones (that were worshipped), over it are appointed angels stern and severe, who disobey not the Commands they receive from Allah, but do that which they are commanded." (Al-Tahrim 66:6)

Both the husband and wife should make sure their home is a place where Allah is remembered and His Commandments are reflected and acted upon. Prophet Muhammad (sallallahu alayhi was sallam) said, "The similitude of a home in which Allah is remembered and a home in which He is not is like the living and the dead." (Muslim)

The Wife Obeying Her Husband
A woman must obey her husband as long as he does not tell her to perform any haraam (unlawful) acts.
Allah says (what means), "…the righteous women are devoutly obedient, and guard in absence what Allah would have then guard." (Al-Nisa 4:34)

Kind Treatment To Ones Wife
Just because Allah has given men a position of authority does not give them the right to abuse it. They have to treat their wives in the best manner.

Allah says (what means), "Live with them honorably." (Al-Nisa 4:19)

Prophet Muhammad (sallallahu alayhi was sallam) said, "The believer with the most complete faith is the one with the best character, and the best of them are those whom treat their women the best." (Tirmidhi)

We can see from the seerah (biography) of Prophet Muhammad (sallallahu alayhi was sallam) that he would help his wives with housework and would engage in games with them as well.

Life After Ramadaan
Complied by Imran Ayub

Are you a Ramadaan Muslim?
·        Are you a Muslim who prayers 5 times a day, and fasts, throughout Ramadaan, but stops when 'Eid arrives?
·        Do you do good deeds in Ramadaan but return to your sins after 'Eid?
·        Do you grow the beard (brothers) and wear the hijaab (sisters) when Ramadaan arrives, then abandon your obligations as soon as 'Eid is announced?
It's time to wake up from this 'dream state' and realize the reality of our actions. If you are a Muslim who, for example, prayers 5 times a day and yet commits sins, are you really completing your prayer correctly?
Allaah, the Most High, says "…Verily, As-Salat (the prayer) prevents from Al-Fahsha and Al-Munkar..."[1]
Imaam ibn Katheer said, "Abu Al-`Aliyah said, "Prayer has three attributes, and any prayer that contains none of these attributes is not truly prayer: Being done purely and sincerely for Allah alone (Ikhlas), fear of Allah, and remembrance of Allah. Ikhlas makes a person do good deeds, fear prevents him from doing evil deeds, and the remembrance of Allah is the Quran which contains commands and prohibitions.''
Ibn Awn Al-Ansari said: "When you are praying, you are doing good, it is keeping you away from immoral sins and evil wicked deeds and what you are doing is part of the remembrance of Allah which is greater.''"[2]
Do not return back to a sinful state. Many Muslims worked very hard and accumulated many good deeds in Ramadaan. However, some of these Muslims will return to their evil ways and commits sins (openly and secretly). The effect of this will be the blackening of their hearts and that on the Day of Judgement, they will see all their deeds turn to dust! Imagine watching all the iftar food, all the dates you donated, all the charity, the taraweeh, etc. all your deeds being as large as a mountain, then turning into dust and floating off the scales….
It was narrated from Aboo Hurayrah that the Messenger of Allaah (peace be upon him) said, "When a believer commits sin, a black spot appears on his heart. If he repents and gives up the sin and seeks forgiveness, his heart will be polished. But if (the sin) increases, (the black spot) increases. That is the Raan that Allaah mentions in His Book: 'Nay! But on their hearts is the Ran (covering of sins and evil deeds) which they used to earn.'[3]"[4]
It was narrated from Thawbaan that the Prophet (peace be upon him) said, "I certainly know people of my nation who will on the Day of Resurrection with good deeds like the mountains of Tihaamah, but Allaah will make them like scattered dust." Thawban said, "O Messenger of Allaah, describe them to us and tell us more, so that we will not become of them unknowingly." He (peace be upon him) said, "They are your brothers and from your race, worshiping at night as you do, but they will be people who, when they are alone, transgress the scared limits of Allaah."[5]
Allaah, the Most High, says, "Leave (O mankind, all kinds of) sin, open and secret. Verily, those who commit sin will get due recompense for that which they used to commit."[6]
Beware of even the smallest of bad deeds.  It was narrated that Aaishah (may Allaah be pleased with her) said: The Messenger of Allaah (peace be upon him) said to me, "O Aaishah, beware of (evil) deeds that are regarded as insignificant, for they have a pursuer from Allaah (i.e. accountability)."[7]
Reflect on all the good work you did this Ramadaan. Think of the deeds that you found you can do consistently and brought you closer to Allaah. Plan you days, months, year, to maximize these deeds and reap their benefits
Aboo Hurayrah (may Allaah be pleased with him) narrated that the Messenger of Allaah (peace be upon him) said, "Take only as much as you can do of good deeds for the best of deeds is that which is done consistently, even if it is little."[8]
Sheikh Muhammad Sâlih al-Munajjid said, "After the end of Ramadaan, the people are divided into various types, two of the most prominent of which I will describe here. The first types are those whom you see in Ramadaan striving hard in worship. You never see them but they are prostrating or standing in prayer, or reading Quraan, or weeping, so much that they remind you of some of the worshipers among the salaf, and you even feel compassion for them because of the intensity of their efforts and striving. Yet hardly has the month ended, before they go back to negligence and committing sin, as if they were prisoners of that worship, so they turn their attention to their desires and become negligent and commit sins which they think will take away their distress and grief. But these poor people forget that sin is the cause of doom, because sins are like war wounds, one of which may turn out to be fatal. How often has sin prevented a person from saying Laa ilaaha ill-Allaah when in the throes of death.
After spending this entire month with faith, (reading) Quraan and other acts of worship, these people then backslide, Laa hawla wa laa quwwata illa Billaah (there is no power and no strength except with Allaah). These are the occasional worshippers who only acknowledge Allaah on certain occasions or at times of calamity and distress, then after that there is no more obedience or worship. What a bad habit that is.
"The worshipper prayed for something that he wanted, and when the matter was done, he neither prayed nor fasted." [Arabic poetry]
I wonder what is the point of worshiping for a whole month, if that is going to be followed by a return to dishonorable ways?
The second type are those who feel distressed at the departure of Ramadaan, because they have tasted the sweetness of being safe from sin, and the bitterness of patience became insignificant to them, because they came to realize the true nature of their weakness and need for their Master (Allaah) and their need to obey Him. They fasted in a true sense and stood in prayer at night out of love, so when they bade farewell to Ramadaan, their tears flowed and their hearts were broken. Those among them who were burdened with sin hoped to be freed from sin and ransomed from Hell, and to join the caravan of those who are accepted. Ask yourself, my brother, which of the two groups do you belong to?"[9]
I ask Allah to accept from us and you our fasting, our prayers and other righteous actions, that our condition after Ramadaan be a better one, that the state of our Ummah improves, that we are granted honour and that we truly turn to our Lord…Ameen[10]
And It is Only Allaah Who grants success. May Allaah Exalt the mention of His slave and Messenger Muhammad (peace be upon him), and render him, his household and companion safe from Evil.
