True Meaning of

Inna lillaahi WA inna ilayhi Raajioon
By Asma bint Shameem

Yeah, sure we say this statement when someone dies.

Also some of us may say this sentence when they lose something, suffer a setback or harm.

But………..do you know what it means?
Sure, everyone know that it obviously means To Allaah we belong and to Him is our return

But thats not what I am talking about.

I mean ….do you REALLY, TRULY understand these words and their implications in a Muslim's life?

It means …whatever we have is not really ours. It belongs to Allaah.

Take a look around you; everything you see, all that you have and all that there is….in you, on you, around you….belongs to Allaah, alone.

It is Allah Who has given you all the property and goods you possess, and that He is the true Owner of them all.

So the cars that you own, the houses that you live in, the businesses you possess all truly belong to Allaah.

The kids that He blessed you with, the health that He gave you, the time that He has allowed you are all Allah's property.

Even the bodies we live in and the life that we have belongs to Allaah alone.

"And to Allah belongs the inheritance of the heavens and the earth…." (Surah Aal-Imraan:180)

"The kingdom of the heavens and the earth and everything in them belongs to Allah. He has power over all things." ( Surat al-Ma'ida: 120)

"Say: 'To Allah belongs the East and the West…" (Surah al-Baqarah:142)

Now, since everything belongs to Allaah, then we have to include even our souls in that list. The very souls that we think of as our "self"; our "nafs"; our "being" -- whatever you want to call it -- that very thing that distinguishes you from the rest of the world, belongs to Allaah. It's not YOURS.

In fact, YOU are not YOURS.
You belong to Allaah
And this is the essence of the concept of slavery to Allaah in Islam.

And since He is the true Possessor of everything, and everything is His property, He allots what He wills to whomever He wills…….and then He takes it away. After all, it was Allaah's to begin with.

So He may give you some thing and then take it back after a while.
He will bless you with a precious child that you love dearly…and then He may take it away.
He will grant you money, honour and status….and then He may take it away.
He will give you youth, vitality and health and then surely He will take it away.

In fact everything you have will only be with you for a very short while.
And then the Owner will claim His Right.

So when Allaah does reclaim what was rightfully His, WHY MOURN OUR LOSSES?

Just like a friend who lends you his book. And then after a few days, he wants it back and you give it back to him…no regrets…..no sorrow….no questions asked.

Similarly, if Allah takes back some of His blessings upon you for some reason….so be it.
Say Alhamdulillaah.

Dont grieve. Be patient. Submit to the will of Allaah, being pleased with His decision for you. For surely He will only do what is best for you.
Just think…..The Owner came and took it back.

Remember….that you are not the real owner…..you were NEVER the real owner to begin with. You only had everything because it was Allah who gave it to you in the first place. If He didnt give it to you, you wouldnt have had it in any way…in fact, you couldn't  have had it.

Remember….man enters into this world empty handed…and leaves it empty handed.

Remember….that everything we have, all the blessings we enjoy, are gifts from Almighty Allah...gifts that we enjoy for a limited period until He takes them away whenever He deems fit.

They are a trust from Allah…a loan to you…to see how you respond to these gifts from Allaah and how you use them….in the obedience of the Almighty, thanking Him and worshipping Him……OR……..to the disobedience to the One Who gave then to you in the first place.

Take note of the words of the Prophet (Sal Allaahu Alaiyhi wa Sallam) on the occasion of the death of his son, Ibraahim:
Our eyes are filled with tears, our hearts with grief, but we say nothing with our lips except that which pleases Allah.... Verily, to Allah we belong, and to Him we return. (Bukhaari)

And we all know the famous incidence about the companion Abu Talha and his wife when one of the sons died and Abu Talha was not at home. She washed and shrouded him and when Abu Talha came home and asked about his son, she said, "The child is quiet and I hope he is in peace…." (Bukhaari)

Subhaan Allaah….such patience!
And such Imaan in the statement "Inna lillaahi wa inna ilayhi Raajioon"!

She truly understood its meaning and the affect it should have on her life as a Muslimah, submitting to him and being pleased with whatever He has decreed for her.

She knew that whatever she has, is not truly hers. Rather, it is Allaah's….and He took back whatever He owns at its appointed time.
And it is because of this Imaan so strong, this understanding, that the

Prophet (Sal Allaahu Alaiyhi wa Sallam) made dua for them and Allaah blessed them immensely.
"'They (i.e. Abu Talha and his wife) had nine sons and all of them became reciters of the Quran (by heart)."  (Bukhaari)

"Be sure we will test you with something of fear and hunger, some loss in goods or lives, but give glad tidings to those who are steadfast, who say when afflicted with calamity: To Allah we belong and to him is our return.'They are those on who (descend) blessings from Allah and mercy and they are the ones that receive guidance."  (al-Baqarah:155)

FW: What's your IQ?

From: Aqib Khan
Date: 25-01-2011 7:25:18 PM
Subject: FW: What's your IQ?

If a person is thought to be very intelligent, yet fails exam after exam, soon all those around him/her will begin to think that he/she is not really very intelligent after all. To get through life with your faith intact, with good deeds, and with Allah's pleasure as your greatest goal, is the biggest exam you will ever face.

If you fail the exam of life you cannot call yourself intelligent, regardless of what else your "intelligence" allowed you to accumulate of education, wealth, fame or pleasure. These will all go to waste with your death, while you will still have to stand before your Lord and face the consequences for eternity.

Your intelligence would have failed you if it didn't give you the sense to properly attempt the biggest exam of your life. Such intelligence is cursed! In an examination hall if you start watching a movie, or discussing the score of a game, or pull out a lavish meal to eat, would you be considered sensible? No matter what your I.Q., you'd be considered mad.

This life is one big exam. Are you busy answering the questions of what to believe and what to do or are you busy entertaining yourself? The time for enjoyment is later. Those who prepare and do well in the exam of life will be considered the intelligent ones for eternity.

The people in Hell will say about themselves, "Had we but listened or used our intelligence, we should not (now) be among the Companions of the Blazing Fire!" [Al-Quran 67:10]

We are so engrossed in our various pursuits that the reality of death does not occur to us. Constant remembrance of death would keep us from getting easily distracted by the glittery entertainment beckoning from all directions, preventing us from seriously attempting the exam of life. Keeping death in mind would help us abstain from sin and motivate us to do good deeds without delay.

The most intelligent person is the one who gives the exam of life his/her full attention, since there are no re-takes.

Wasalaam,

Farhat.

FW: Story of Appreciation

Subject: FW: Story of Appreciation

**Story of Appreciation**

One young academically excellent person went to apply for a managerial position in a big company.

He passed the first interview, the director did the last interview, made
The last decision.

The director discovered from the CV that the youth's academic
Achievements were excellent all the way, from the secondary school until the postgraduate research, never had a year when he did not score.

The director asked, "Did you obtain any scholarships in school?" the
Youth answered "none".

The director asked, " Was it your father who paid for your school fees?" The youth answered, "My father passed away when I was one year old, it was my mother who paid for my school fees.

The director asked, " Where did your mother work?" The youth answered, "My mother worked as clothes cleaner. The director requested the youth to show his hands. The youth showed a pair of hands that were smooth and perfect.

The director asked, " Have you ever helped your mother wash the clothes
Before?" The youth answered, "Never, my mother always wanted me to study and read more books. Furthermore, my mother can wash clothes faster than me.

The director said, "I have a request. When you go back today, go and
Clean your mother's hands, and then see me tomorrow morning.*

The youth felt that his chance of landing the job was high. When he went back, he happily requested his mother to let him clean her hands. His
Mother felt strange, happy but with mixed feelings, she showed her hands to the kid.

The youth cleaned his mother's hands slowly. His tear fell as he did
That. It was the first time he noticed that his mother's hands were so wrinkled, and there were so many bruises in her hands. Some bruises were so painful that his mother
Shivered when they were cleaned with water.

This was the first time the youth realized that it was this pair of hands that washed the clothes everyday to enable him to pay the school fee. The bruises in the mother's hands were the price that the mother had to pay for his
Graduation, academic excellence and his future.

After finishing the cleaning of his mother hands, the youth quietly washed all the remaining clothes for his mother.

That night, mother and son talked for a very long time.

Next morning, the youth went to the director's office.

The Director noticed the tears in the youth's eyes, asked: " Can you tell me
What have you done and learned yesterday in your house?"

The youth answered, " I cleaned my mother's hand, and also finished
Cleaning all the remaining clothes'

The Director asked, " please tell me your feelings."

The youth said, Number 1, I know now what is appreciation. Without my mother, there would not the successful me today. Number 2, by working together and helping
My mother, only I now realize how difficult and tough it is to get something done. Number 3, I have come to appreciate the importance and value of family relationship.

The director said, " This is what I am looking for to be my manager.
I want to recruit a person who can appreciate the help of others, a person who knows the sufferings of
Others to get things done, and a person who would not put money as his only goal in life. You are hired.

Later on, this young person worked very hard, and received the respect of his subordinates. Every employee worked diligently and as a team. The company's performance improved tremendously.

A child, who has been protected and habitually given whatever he wanted, would develop "entitlement mentality" and would always put himself first. He would be ignorant of his parent's efforts. When he starts work, he assumes that every person must listen to him, and when he becomes a manager, he would never know the sufferings of his employees and would always blame others. For this kind of people, who may be good academically, may be successful for a while, but eventually would not feel sense of achievement. He will grumble and be full of hatred and fight for more. If we are this kind of protective parents, are we really showing love or are we destroying the kid instead?*

You can let your kid live in a big house, eat a good meal, learn piano, watch a big screen TV. But when you are cutting grass, please let them experience it. After a meal, let them wash their plates and bowls together with their brothers and sisters. It is not because you do not have money to hire a maid, but it is because you want to love them in a right way. You want them to understand, no matter how rich their parents are, one day their hair will grow gray, same as the mother of that young person. The most important thing is your kid learns how to appreciate the effort and experience the difficulty and learns the ability to work with others to get things done.

Fw: Surprising Secret for Stronger Joints

Subject: Surprising Secret for Stronger Joints

I'm sure you know vitamin C is good for you. That it can help clear out your arteries, fight inflammation, help fight sicknesses like the cold, and that it's even good for your skin.

But what you might not know is that right now, your body is working as fast as it can to destroy almost every bit of it.

That's because your body doesn't just use it … it uses up vitamin C to make collagen, the most abundant protein in your body. Collagen is the basis for your skin, bones, teeth, blood vessels, eyes, heart … essentially all parts of your body.

Collagen is stronger than steel wire, and as part of a network of an elastic-like substance called elastin, it makes up the connective tissue that holds you together.

That means that without vitamin C to make collagen, you would literally fall apart.

Your joints would fail, your blood vessels would break open, your gums would ulcerate, your teeth would fall out, and your immune system would fail, too.

All because of a lack of vitamin C.

In fact, they have a name for it when that happens. A disease called scurvy.

Scurvy is not something you see very much today because we know that vitamin C is important. You usually get the bare minimum of vitamin C through what you eat so that you don't end up with a dietary deficiency.

In fact, that's really all the U.S. Recommended Daily Allowance is meant to prevent – a dietary deficiency of a nutrient. What the RDA doesn't do is recommend how much of a nutrient you need so you can function at your best.

For example, the RDA of vitamin C for adults is 90 mg for men and 75 mg for women.

Meanwhile, most animals can make their own vitamin C, and based on what they produce, your body would make between 3,000 mg and 10,000 mg a day if it could – over 100 times more than the RDA!

But your body can't make vitamin C. The problem is, your body is still making collagen, and it needs lots of vitamin C to make all that connective tissue that keeps you moving without pain or discomfort.

The joints in your body that can move are called synovial joints and the connective tissue that holds them together and lubricates your cartilage is called synovial fluid.

This thick, straw-colored liquid is made up mostly of collagen, but also blood plasma, hyaluronic acid and some other proteins. Synovial fluid isn't just a lubricant, though. It's also antibacterial, and your body uses it to fend off diseases like arthritis.1

As you age, things like strain, wear and tear, injury and even reactions to medications can let pollutants in to your joints, and synovial fluid can leak out. The combination can cause serious pain and inflammation on a daily basis.

I play tennis every day, so I need to keep my synovial joints like my knees, elbows, wrists and ankles all moving well.

Here's what I do to reduce inflammation and keep my synovial fluid healthy for less pain and irritation. And you can do it, too:

1. Take enough vitamin C. Normally, you wouldn't think of vitamin C for joint health, but because it's used to make collagen, the building block of all your joints and connective tissue, you need to make sure you get enough through food or supplements every day.

Of course berries and oranges have a lot of vitamin C, but bell peppers, collard greens and papaya all have lots of vitamin C, too.

A little-known source of vitamin C is peppermint leaves. You can make peppermint tea – just make sure to cover the mug while brewing to keep in the oils. You can also freeze it to make iced peppermint tea during the summer. Or you can toss the leaves into a salad, or add some to your salad dressing oil.

Based on my own experience, I recommend 3,000 mg of vitamin C per day if you're currently in good health. This will give you enough to produce the collagen required for joint health, strong blood vessels and heart disease prevention.

Pregnant women should get at least 6,000 mg per day – and in times of stress or sickness, you can take up to 20,000 mg. A powdered form may be more convenient for larger doses.

2. Take other joint-supporting nutrients.

  • Glucosamine really packs a punch. This amino sugar is known to help repair damaged cartilage, reduce inflammation and help stop cartilage deterioration. In fact, a study in the British Journal of Sports Medicine found that glucosamine helped completely relieve the joint pain of 80 percent of its participants, and 70 percent had improved joint mobility. I recommend you take 500 mg of glucosamine twice a day with food, as a few of my patients have reported stomach upset if they took it on an empty stomach.

  • Just 55 micrograms of selenium a day can help reduce your chances of osteoporosis (a disease in your bones that can make you more vulnerable to fractures) by up to 15 percent. And researchers have shown there is a direct correlation between the amount of this powerful mineral in your body and joint problems. The best source of selenium is found in Brazil nuts. They pack a whopping 544 micrograms in just 1 ounce. You can also get selenium from red meat, tuna, eggs and walnuts.

  • D-Glucuronic Acid helps keep inflammation down and is one of the main components of hyaluronic acid, a building block of synovial fluid. You can take 250 mg twice a day if you already have joint pain, and after one week, reduce it to 250 mg per day.

3. Maintain a healthy weight. If you've got a few excess pounds, you might think you're in a catch-22 … your joints hurt so you can't exercise, and when you exercise it makes your joints hurt. But, excess weight can cause severe pressure on joints like your knees. Nearly six times your entire body weight is exerted on your knees when you walk,2 so the more you weigh, the more joint problems can occur.

That's why I don't recommend high-impact exercise which can put more strain on your joints and your synovial membranes. But I do recommend high-intensity, short-duration, progressively challenging exercises like I show you in my PACE program.

With PACE, you can melt fat faster, with little impact. The best part for your joints is that exercise helps your body with synovial fluid production,3 keeping your joints moving smoothly.

4. Get your essential fatty acids. Omega-3s are produced from linolenic acid, and you get omega-6s from linoleic acid. They are crucial to joint health because having the right balance of them helps you avoid inflammation. But your body can't create them. I recommend you get 2 to 5 grams of omega-3 each day, and as always, I recommend you get your nutrients through food.

You probably know that eggs, red meat and avocados have omega-3. And a quarter cup of walnuts can have over 2 grams. But two other sources you may not know about are navy and kidney beans, and winter squash. Beans can have up to a gram per cup, and winter squash has 300 mg of omega-3 per cup.

If you can't get essential fatty acids through what you eat, try Sacha Inchi oil. One tablespoon has 6.85 grams of linolenic acid, and 5.15 grams of linoleic acid.

You could also use cod liver oil, which is packed with omega-3s. Almost 900 milligrams per teaspoon.

5. Take a daily dose of gelatin. Gelatin, which is normally used in cooking, contains collagen. So does your cartilage. It's widely used in Europe to help treat arthritis and assist in rebuilding cartilage damaged from strenuous sporting activities. In fact, studies done in Germany show how hydrolyzed gelatin can be used to treat joint conditions and help relieve pain, inflammation and stiffness of your joints. Gelatin can be used in all kinds of forms, but I suggest unflavored natural gelatin (7-10 grams a day is ideal).

To Your Good Health,

Al Sears, MD

A beautiful story about Quran.... Worth reading

Assalamu Alaikum Wa Rahmathullah.

              A Beautiful story about QURAN.

Why do we read Quran, even if we can't understand a single Arabic word????

This is a beautiful story.

An old American Muslim lived on a farm in the mountains of eastern Kentucky with his young grandson. Each morning Grandpa was up early sitting at the kitchen table reading his Quran. His grandson wanted to be just like him and tried to imitate him in every way he could.

One day the grandson asked, "Grandpa! I try to read the Quran just like you but I don't understand it, and what I do understand I forget as soon as I close the book. What good does reading the Qur'an do?"

The Grandfather quietly turned from putting coal in the stove and replied, "Take this coal basket down to the river and bring me back a basket of water.

The boy did as he was told, but all the water leaked out before he got back to the house. The grandfather laughed and said, "You'll have to move a little faster next time," and sent him back to the river with the basket to try again. This time the boy ran faster, but again the basket was empty before he returned home. Out of breath, he told his grandfather that it was impossible to carry water in a basket, and he went to get a bucket instead.

The old man said, "I don't want a bucket of water; I want a basket of water. You're just aganot trying hard enough," and he went out the door to watch the boy try in.

At this point, the boy knew it was impossible, but he wanted to show his grandfather that even if he ran as fast as he could, the water would leak out before he got back to the house. The boy again dipped the basket into river and ran hard, but when he reached his grandfather the basket was again empty. Out of breath, he said, "See Grandpa, it's useless!"

"So you think it is useless?" The old man said, "Look at the basket."

The boy looked at the basket and for the first time realized that the basket was different. It had been transformed from a dirty old coal basket and was now clean, inside and out.

Son, that's what happens when you read the Qur'an . You might not understand or remember everything, but when you read it, you will be changed, inside and out when you read time by time . That is the work of Allah in our lives...."

If you feel this email is worth reading, please forward to your contacts/friends. Prophet Muhammad (pbuh & his family) says: *"The one who guides to good will be rewarded equally"

Remember me in your prayers !!

A New Year Gained or a New Year Lost ?
by Asma bint Shameem
Zoom!
Before we knew it, last year passed by like a flash and the new year is here...whether it is 2011 CE or 1432 of the Hijri Calendar.
For some people, the beginning of the new year is marked by excited countdowns, popping of firecrackers, partying till the wee hours of the morning and dancing.

And for some, it is a time for somber thoughtfulness and self accountability.
Instead of celebrating, they are worried and scared.
Instead of partying, they think and reflect.
Their hearts tremble and their skins shiver.
Because each year that passes means a year LESS from their lifetime.....
Each year that passes by is bringing them closer to their death....

Because, they know that with each passing year....each passing month....each passing day.....and each passing second...they are that much closer to that inevitable event when they meet their end,
that much closer to their meeting with their Lord, when they will have to stand in front of Him and answer regarding all that they did.

They are aware that whatever time has passed will never come back.
They know that if they did not make the most of their time, and if they did not use their time wisely, in the obedience of Allaah, then surely, they are the losers.

That is because, the Prophet (sal Allaahu Alaiyhi wa sallam) said:
"On the Day of Resurrection the feet of the son of Adam (man) will not move till he is questioned about four things: how he spent his lifetime, how he spent his youth, from where he acquired his wealth and how he spent it, and what he did with his nowledge." (Tirmidhi)

So they take account of themselves and their deeds at the end of a year....and at the end of a month.....and at the end of a day. They are not heedless of the passage of time or day. They are conscious of every second of their lives and how important it is to spend it usefully.

You see, your life is like the pages of a calendar. As the months go by, you flip its pages, never to flip the pages back. Those months that have passed will never come back.
Similarly, as the days and weeks and months of your life go by, they too, will never come back.
What is gone, is gone.

That is why the righteous Salaf were so careful about their time and how they spent it. They made sure that no time, however short it was, passed without doing something useful, like acquiring useful knowledge, doing good deeds, helping others, or advising the Ummah.

The Prophet (sal Allaahu Alaiyhi wa sallam) said:
Make the most of five things before five others: life before death, health before sickness, free time before becoming busy, youth before old age, and wealth before poverty.” (Saheeh al-Jaami’)

This Hadeeth, like so many other ahaadeeth of the Prophet (sal Allaahu Alaiyhi wa sallam), is brief, yet it is so comprehensive and loaded with meaning. Not only does it point out the value of time, but it also points out the importance of its proper utilization during our youth, and health. It urges us to take the initiative, and not to delay good deeds.

The Prophet (sal Allaahu Alaiyhi wa sallam) also said:
"Lose no time to do good deeds before you are caught up by one of seven calamities awaiting you: a starvation which may impair your wisdom; a prosperity which may mislead you; an ailment which may damage your health; an old age which may harm your senses; a sudden death; the Dajjal; or Doomsday, which is indeed the hardest and most bitter." [at-Tirmidhi]

In fact, we see that the Sahaabah were not only careful about wasting their time; rather they would compete with one another in good deeds.
The noble and commendable competitions that occurred between Abu Bakr and Umar is well-known to all.
"Umar saw that as an opportunity to outstrip Abu Bakr and he said: Today, I am going to surpass Abu Bakr.
He said: So I came with half of my property.
The Messenger of Allaah asked: What have you left for your family? I answered: As much as this.
Then Abu Bakr came with all that he has and the Messenger of Allaah said: What have you left for your family?
He replied: I left for them Allaah and his Messenger.
It is then that I said: I shall never compete with him on anything again.” (At-Tirmidhee).
And Allaah says: "So race in goodness." (Surah Baqarah: 148)
Some Ulamaa while commenting on the above verse said: “Whoever beats others to the righteous deeds in this world will be the foremost on the Last Day and the foremost people are the highest in position.”
Dear brothers and sisters, mans life is not free from impediments, obstacles and calamities, which can prevent him from accomplishing what could have been done earlier. Wise are those who grab available opportunities before being handicapped by obstacles.
Let us leave those people moving aimlessly in their fake pleasures and ponder over a better and sublime competition....... a competition that is encouraged by the Glorious Quraan.
It is a race towards the Pleasure of Allaah and the Paradise....a competition in the field of righteous deeds.
It is a competition in which the participants are wise people who are aware that this live is short hence they compete with one another in investing their lives in acts of obedience to Allaah.

"Therefore, race for forgiveness from your Lord, and for a Garden as wide as heaven and earth, prepared for those who believe in Allah and His Messengers. Such is the Favor of Allah; He gives it to whom He will. Allah is the Owner of great favor."
(Surah Hadeed: 21)

Describing the Salafs care for time, Hasan al-Basri said: "I saw those people and how they were more careful about their time than about their Dirhams and Dinars (meaning, their money).

Regarding Imaam Hammad ibn Salamah, someone said: "It is unbelievable! I have never seen Hammad laugh at all. He was always busy explaining hadeeth, praying, reading or praising the Lord. This is how he spent his day." And:" If you were to tell Hammad, You are going to die tomorrow', there would be nothing he could add to what he is already doing."

Subhaan Allaah! What consciousness of the value of time!

Ibn al-Qayyim says: "The year is like a tree, months are its branches, days are the branch sticks, hours are its leaves, and the breaths are its fruits. Therefore, if one's breaths are in obedience [to Allah and His Messenger], the fruits of his tree are good. If they are in disobedience, his fruits are bitter. The harvest is on the Appointed Day, when one's fruits are found out to be either good or bitter."

Professor Muhammad Abdul Qadeer Siddiqui Hasrat  Hyderabadi was my Grand Teacher.
He was a great Scholar and great Soofi.
His students and followers are found in every part of this world.
He wrote so many books on various Islamic Topics, a few you can find on this website.
Other books and booklets are to be published on this website later on.

You can read it online.
You can also read other books online.
He was a great poet too.
