The issue of the celebrations of the noble birth of our Holy Prophet Muhammad (Peace and Blessings be upon Him) sparks much debate and questions are raised as to whether it is correct or otherwise to observe it. Indeed a lot has been argued on this subject, hence the need to clarify why Muslims from all over the world celebrate this occasion as an "Eid" (literally meaning happy occasion or festival).

It is firmly established from various Qur'anic Verses, Prophetic Ahadith, Sunnah of the Companions, historical facts, and by consensus of the Ulama, that innovations could either be blameworthy or meritorious.

This article is not an attempt to define the categories of "Bid'ah" – (what is a Good Innovation or a Blameworthy Innovation etc) – for that is an entirely different subject. What this article shall prove, with Allah's help, is that this commemoration is not an innovation (Bid'ah) at all!! So the question of whether such a commemoration is good or blameworthy, simply does not arise!

The issue of mixing these commemorations with forbidden (Haraam) acts is one that applies not only this, but universally to all forms of worship. Needless to say, forbidden acts must be abstained from at all times, not only during these commemorations. We cannot, obviously, leave any sort of worship because some people might mix it with forbidden acts. For example – offering Salaah is compulsory, but if the Niyah (intention) is for showing off (display), then this act of display is forbidden – but not the Salaah. So if the person indulging in these acts (in our example display) is to be advised, he should be advised to abstain from display – but not advised to forego Salaat altogether. Another example is that if a person steals something from a mosque, should we try to prevent the theft or should we just stupidly demolish the mosque?

The Following will make it amply clear that:-
  • Allah, the Almighty, has Himself commemorated Mawlid of the Holy Prophet (Peace and Blessings be upon Him)
  • Allah has gifted mankind with innumerable favours due to the Mawlid of the Holy Prophet (Peace and Blessings be upon Him), and that these favours shall continue. So this commemoration by Allah is still ongoing.
So when such radiant and undisputable proofs are available from the Holy Qur'an what is the need to search
For "historical" evidence as to when and where it was actually done by the Ummah?

Allah SubHanuhu WA Ta'ala Commemorates Mawlid
Of the Beloved Prophet

Proof # 1

And remember when Allah took a covenant from the Prophets; "If I give you the Book and knowledge and the (promised) Noble Messenger comes to you, confirming the Books you possess, you shall positively, definitely believe in him and you shall positively, definitely help him"; He said, "Do you agree, and accept My binding responsibility in this matter?" They all answered, "We agree"; He said, "Then bear witness amongst yourselves, and I Myself am a witness with you." [Surah Aal-e-Imran 3:81]

Allah has never sent a prophet, from Adam onward, unless he took from Him the covenant regarding (our master) Muhammad (Peace and Blessings be upon Him): If (our master) Muhammad (Peace and Blessings be upon Him) is sent in that prophet's lifetime, he was to believe in him and support him, and that prophet was to take this covenant to his people as well.

Proof # 2

And remember when Eisa the son of Maryam said, "O Descendants of Israel! Indeed I am Allah's Noble Messenger towards you, confirming the Book Torah which was before me, and heralding glad tidings of the Noble Messenger who will come after me – his name is Ahmed (the Praised One)"; so when Ahmed came to them with clear proofs, they said, "This is an obvious magic." [Surah Saff 61:6]

Proof # 3

O dear Prophet, did you not see how did your Lord deal with the People of the Elephant? [Surah Feel 105:1]

It is well known that Allah protected the Meccans from the attack of Abraha, and that this took place in the year of the Holy Prophet (Peace and Blessings be upon Him)'s birth. This event is an indication of the prestige of the Holy Prophet (Peace and Blessings be upon Him) , and a clear proof of Allah's great favour in the year of the Holy Prophet (Peace and Blessings be upon Him)'s birth.

Proof # 4

And when the Book from Allah came to them, which confirms the Book in their possession - and before that they used to seek victory through the medium of this very Prophet (Peace and Blessings be upon Him) over the disbelievers; so when the one whom they fully recognised came to them, they turned disbelievers - therefore Allah's curse is upon the disbelievers. [Surah Baqarah 2:89]

Proof # 5

By your life O dear Prophet (Peace and Blessings be upon Him) - they are indeed straying in their intoxication. [Surah Hijr 15:72]

Note here that Allah has sworn upon the entire life of His Holy Prophet (Peace and Blessings be upon Him) – this includes the time of his noble birth!

How did Allah celebrate this on the DAY of the Prophet's birth?
  • He made the Ka'aba lean in prostration towards the place of the noble birth.
  • Allah caused the idols to fall down.
  • He extinguished the fires of Persia.
  • Only male children were born on that day.
  • The skies were illuminated.
  • Paradise was further decorated on this occasion.
  • Allah removed drought from Mecca, turned the earth green and made the trees bear fruit, and blessings came to the Quraish from every direction
  • Allah stopped sending down torments.
  • He sent down the maidens of Paradise to give company to Syeda Amina .
  • He sent down Angel Sayyiduna Jibreel to carry the Holy Prophet (Peace and Blessings be upon Him), and announce his birth all over the world.

Allah's gift to mankind due to the Arrival of the
Beloved Prophet (Peace and Blessings be Upon Him)

Proof # 1

The way We have sent to you a Noble Messenger from among you, who recites to you Our verses and purifies you, and teaches you the Book and sound wisdom, and teaches you what you did not know. [Surah Baqarah 2:151]

Proof # 2

Allah has indeed bestowed a great favour upon the Muslims, in that He sent to them a Noble Messenger from among them, who recites to them His verses, and purifies them, and teaches them the Book and wisdom; and before it, they were definitely in open error. [Surah Aal-e-Imran 3:164]

Note that Allah has called the Holy Prophet (Peace and Blessings be upon Him) – as one of His greatest favours to Muslims.

Proof # 3

"Those who will obey this Noble Messenger, the Herald of the Hidden who is untutored (except by Allah), whom they will find mentioned in the Taurat and the Injeel with them; he will command them to do good and forbid them from wrong, and he will make lawful for them the good clean things and prohibit the foul for them, and he will unburden the loads and the neck chains which were upon them; so those who believe in him, and revere him, and help him, and follow the light which came down with him - it is they who have succeeded." [Surah Aa'raf 7:157]

Note that to honour the Holy Prophet (Peace and Blessings be upon Him) is part of faith. To disrespect him is blasphemy.

Proof # 4

It is He Who has sent among the unlettered people a Noble Messenger from themselves, who recites His verses to them and purifies them, and bestows them the knowledge of the Book and wisdom; and indeed before this, they were in open error. [Surah Jumu'ah 62:2]

Proof # 5

And it is not for Allah to punish them while you (O dear Prophet) are amongst them; and Allah will not punish them as long as they are seeking forgiveness. [Surah Anfal 8:33]

Proof # 6

And We did not send you (O dear Prophet) except as a mercy for the entire world. [Surah Ambiya 21:107]

Note that Allah has named the Holy Prophet (Peace and Blessings be upon Him) "a mercy unto mankind".

How has Allah rewarded the Muslims after the day of the Prophet's birth?

  • He sent down the Holy Qur'an.
  • He sent down the sound Wisdom (i.e. the Prophet's Sunnah)
  • He made the Holy Prophet (Peace and Blessings be upon Him) as a Mercy to all mankind.
  • He lessened the punishments of Muslims sins.
  • He increased the rewards tenfold for Muslims' good deeds.
  • He lessened the burdens on the necks of Muslims.
  • He accepts forgiveness who seek it from him, and for whom the Holy Prophet (Peace and Blessings be upon Him) seeks forgiveness.
  • He has kept open the doors of forgiveness till the very end.
  • He has promised first entry in to Paradise for the Muslims.
  • This list is endless.
From the above it is proven that Allah has gifted mankind with innumerable favours due to the Mawlid of the Holy Prophet (Peace and Blessings be upon Him) , and that these favours shall continue. So this commemoration by Allah is still ongoing. This also proves that any day can be chosen to commemorate this auspicious occasion, because the gifts and commemoration from Allah are continuous, every day, every hour, every moment. Muslims usually choose the 12th day of Rabi-ul-Awwal, because that is the day the Holy Prophet (Peace and Blessings be upon Him) was born, and is the easiest to remember. Any other day can also been chosen. And we all know that unless something is scheduled, it is human nature to keep postponing it or to simply forget it.

Allah commands us to remember and rejoice upon his favors
to Increase His Worship especially on the Great Days

Proof # 1

Therefore remember Me, I will cause you to be spoken of and acknowledge My rights, and do not be ungrateful [Surah Baqarah 2:152]

Proof # 2

Undoubtedly Safa and Marwah are among the symbols of Allah; so there is no sin on him, for whoever performs the Hajj of this House (of Allah) or the Umrah to go back and forth between them; and whoever does good of his own accord, then (know that) indeed Allah is Most Appreciative, the All Knowing. [Surah Baqarah 2:158]

Note here that Allah has promised excellent reward for those who good deeds of their own accord (increase their non-obligatory worship) - for such Allah will be "Most Appreciative".
Proof # 3

O Descendants of Israel! Remember My favour which I bestowed upon you, and fulfill your covenant towards Me, I shall fulfill My covenant towards you; and fear Me alone. [Surah Baqarah 2:40]

Proof # 4

O Descendants of Israel! Remember the favour of Mine, which I bestowed upon you and gave you superiority over others of your time. [Surah Baqarah 2:47]

Note the superiority is by the sending of the Noble Messengers.

Proof # 5

And when you have divorced women, and their term reaches its end, either retain them on good terms within this period or release them with kindness; and do not retain them in order to hurt them, hence transgressing the limits; and he who does so harms only himself; and do not make the signs of Allah the objects of ridicule; and remember Allah's favour that is bestowed upon you and that He has sent down to you the Book and wisdom, for your guidance; keep fearing Allah and know well that Allah knows everything. [Surah Baqarah 2:231]

The favour separately mentioned here is the advent of the Holy Prophet (Peace and Blessings be upon Him)

Proof # 6

Allah has indeed bestowed a great favour upon the Muslims, in that He sent to them a Noble Messenger from among them, who recites to them His verses, and purifies them, and teaches them the Book and wisdom; and before it, they were definitely in open error. [Surah Aal-e-Imran 3:164]

Note that the Holy Prophet (Peace and Blessings be upon Him) is one of Allah's greatest favours to mankind.

Proof # 7

And when Moosa said to his people, "O my people! Remember Allah's favour upon you, that He created Prophets among you, and made you kings, and has now given you what He has not given to any one else in this world." [Surah Maidah 5:20]

Note that the creation of Prophets is mentioned as a separate favour.

Proof # 8

O mankind! The advice has come to you from your Lord and a cure for the hearts - and guidance and mercy for believers. Say, "Upon Allah's munificence and upon His mercy - upon these should the people rejoice"; this is better than all the wealth they hoard. [Surah Yunus 10:57-58]

Proof # 9

And indeed We sent Moosa along with Our signs that, "Bring your people from the realms of darkness into light - and remind them of the days of Allah; indeed in them are signs for every greatly enduring, grateful person." [Surah Ibrahim 14:5]

The "days of Allah" refers to days when various favours were bestowed.

Proof # 10

And abundantly proclaim the favours of your Lord. [Surah Duha 93:11]

Note that we are commanded here to keep proclaiming the "favours" of our Lord Allah.

By the grace of Allah, from the above,It has been amply proven that

  • Allah, the Almighty, has Himself commemorated Mawlid of the Holy Prophet (Peace and Blessings be upon Him).
  • Allah has gifted mankind with innumerable favours due to the Mawlid of the Holy Prophet (Peace and Blessings be upon Him), and that these favours shall continue. This commemoration by Allah is still ongoing.
  • Allah wants us to remember His favours, His Prophets, His "days" etc.
  • So in light of the above, Mawlid commemoration is not an innovation at all.
  • Other than 2 compulsory Eids, there are other non-obligatory "Eids" (days of joy) in Islam.
  • Fixing a date for commemorating any of Allah's favours, is not against Islamic law.
  • We are in fact through Mawlid refuting the wrong Christian belief, and upholding Tawheed.
Allah and His Beloved Prophet Knows the Best!!

Peace And Abundant Blessings Be Upon Our Master Muhammad (Peace and Blessings be upon Him) - The Leader Of The Creation – And Upon His Progeny, His Companions, And All His Followers.

Subject: [AllahoAkbarGroup] 10 Tips for A Muslim Husband To Win The Heart of his Wife

In the name of Allah, the Most-Merciful, the All-Compassionate

"May the Peace and Blessings of Allah be Upon You"

Praise be to Allaah, we seek His help and His forgiveness. We seek refuge with Allaah from the evil of our own souls and from our bad deeds. Whomsoever Allaah guides will never be led astray, and whomsoever Allaah leaves astray, no one can guide. I bear witness that there is no god but Allaah, and I bear witness that Muhammad is His slave and Messenger.

Bismillah Walhamdulillah Was Salaatu Was Salaam 'Ala Rasulillah
As-Salaam Alaikum Wa-Rahmatullahi Wa-Barakatuhu

10 Tips for A Muslim Husband To Win The Heart of his Wife

Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) said, "the best amongst you are the ones who are best to their wives."

So dear Muslim brothers! Your obligations towards your wife are not limited to earning money and supporting her financially.

A wife needs love from her husband, and emotional support too!

10 Tips on How to Be a Successful Husband

Note: Additions in brackets in blue color are notes from a sister.

1) Dress Up

Dress up for your wife, look clean and smell good. When was the last time us men went shopping for designer pajamas? Just like the husband wants his wife to look nice for him, she also wants her husband to dress up for her too. Remember that Rasulullah (pbuh) would always start with Miswak when returning home and always loved the sweetest smells.

(Dress up for your wife when you are at home also. Some brothers only dress up when they go out and that is not a good practice. A husband should dress up for his wife when they are at home. It makes a wife feel special.)

2) Sweet Names
Use the cutest names for your wife. Rasulullah (pbuh) had nicknames for his wives, ones that they loved. Call your wife by the most beloved names to her, and avoid using names that hurt their feelings.

(Remember, you are your wife only boyfriend, and her only best friend. She does not go out seeking boyfriends and she shares a halal relationship with you. Love her unconditionally for the sake of Allah. And express your love to her. A woman likes to be told that she is loved. Call her from your work to make sure she is doing fine. I have seen my dad calling my mother several times a day, just to make sure she has been eating well. And my husband calls me at least twice from work to make sure I am doing well. These things are very important in a relationship.)

3) Reward Her Actions
Don't treat her like a fly. We never think about a fly in our daily lives until it "bugs" us. Similarly, a wife will do well all day – which brings no attention from the husband – until she does something to "bug" him.

Don't treat her like this; recognize all the good that she does and focus on that.

(Whenever there is a fight or argument, just remember all the things she does for you. She cooks for you, she takes care of your home, she takes care of your children and the most important thing is that she guards her modesty. So do not upset her if she is upset with you. Hold her and tell her that you love her. Only your love can repel her anger. Communicate with her and discuss with her if there are any misunderstandings.)

4) Remain Silent
If you see wrong from your wife, try being silent and do not comment! This is one of the ways Rasulullah (pbuh) used when he would see something inappropriate from his wives (pbuh)(as long it does not go beyond teachings of Islam). Its a technique that few Muslim men have mastered.

(Do not criticize her all the time. Trust her and trust her decisions. If she is doing something that you don't like, or that goes against the teachings of Islam, then do advice her gently.)

5) Smile!
Smile at your wife whenever you see her and embrace her often. Smiling is Sadaqah and your wife is not exempt from the Muslim Ummah.
Imagine life with her constantly seeing you smiling.
Remember also those Ahadith when Rasulullah
(pbuh) would kiss his wife before leaving for Salah, even if he was fasting.

(Do let your wife know that you are very happy and blessed to have her. A wife always wonder how her husband feels about her. She may have some insecurity about you, so make her feel secure. Always give her a hug whenever you come back from work. appreciate her and thank her for taking care of everything whole day. If you are not too tired, go out for star gazing for an hour or so.)

6) Acknowledge Her
Thank her for all that she does for you. Then thank her again! Take for example a dinner at your house. She makes the food, cleans the home, and a dozen other tasks to prepare. And sometimes the only acknowledgment she receives is that there needed to be more salt in the soup.
Dont let that be; thank her!

(Write thank you notes for her and place those notes in her books, her purse, her clothes, and anything else that belongs to her. You can use your own creativity to thank her. You can thank her by writing something on a mirror , so that she can read it when she wakes up in the morning. You can also thank her by arranging a candlelight dinner AT HOME, you be the cook and let her rest. So far I have learned that a nice romantic dinner at home is much better than going out for dinner. This way a couple saves themselves from many fitnahs. You can thank her by writing her letters and emails. Remember, in Islam, everyday is special. So celebrate wife's day with her, and do it very often without having a particular date. She will always wonder when the wife's day is going to be.
You can also give her a certificate of appreciation, or a Best Wife Award .
Do everything by yourself that day and let her rest, this way you will also know how difficult it could be to do household chores. Thank her by recording a voice message on a cd for your wife. She will love it!

Thank her by giving her a gift, and a gift does not have to be expensive. Be creative! You do not have to give her Roses, you can give her a leaf too! (My husband gave me a leaf once, instead of roses, and I was very happy and surprised, and I appreciated his creativity). So remember, thoughtful and creative gifts makes a wife feel secure and happy.

Thank her by ordering a halal pizza for her, ask the restaurant to cut it in a heart shape and have it delivered with a personalized note. Thank her by thanking her in a family gathering. A woman likes it when her husband gives her attention.

If you visit her parents or your parents, hold her hands and tell your parents how happy you are after marriage. Give your wife an Islamic book as a gift after praying Tahajjud. Use your imagination and think about unique gifts. Remember, she does not need a diamond, she needs your sincerity and your heart, so always give her the gifts that are thoughtful. Whenever you do something to make her happy, observe her facial expressions and ask yourself about how you feel when you become her happiness.)

7) Ten Blessings From Allah
Ask her to write down the last ten things you did for her that made her happy. Then go and do them again. It may be hard to recognize what gives your wife pleasure. You dont have to play a guessing game–ask her and work on repeating those things in your life.

(Also ask her to write down the things you did that she did not like, or the things you did that made her unhappy. Try to not do those things in future. If she falls ill, let her lay down, and read different surahs from Quran while placing your hand on her forehead. When I got sick, my husband recited Quran for me, it really helped a lot mashaAllah. Remember, a wife needs her husband the most when she is not feeling well. Take good care of her because a healthy wife makes a healthy family. Do not expect too much from her when she is sick.)

8)Validate her Feelings
Dont belittle her desires. Comfort her. Sometimes the men may look down upon the requests of their wives.

Rasulullah
(pbuh) set the example for us in an incident when Safiyyah (pbuh) was crying because, as she said, he had put her on a slow camel. He wiped her tears, comforted her, and brought her the camel.

(If there is a time of sadness, give her your shoulder to cry on. Hold her and tell her that everything will be fine. Alhamdulillah, my husband and my dad are amongst those Muslim husbands who would even have tears in their eyes if their wives are sad. Remember, a woman does not like to cry alone in a corner. She needs someone to hold her when she is sad, so never let her feel lonely. Remind her the verses from Quran that talks about Patience and Piety.)

9) Have Fun !
Be humorous and play games with your wife. Look at how Rasulullah (pbuh) would race his wife Aisha in the desert. When was the last time we did something like that?

(A sense of humor plays a very important role in a marital relationship. Most women wish to have a husband who has a good sense of humor. Tell her decent and modest jokes that make her happy. A wife appreciates it very much if her husband makes her smile. You can play various games at home. Play with crayons, or have a pillow fight. Or hide different notes in your bedroom and ask her to find it. Think of different games you can both play. Let her win sometimes!

Adopt interesting hobbies, such as reading, cooking together and gardening (grow a surprise rose plant in your garden, when you have the first rose blooming, take her to the garden and show it to her. Newspaper and Sports Issue! Men like to watch sports, or read newspaper. Most Pakistani wives consider newspaper as their co-wives. So be very careful. If you are watching sports, turn the TV off if your wife comes around. Give her attention. Do not spend too much time reading newspaper, and do not read newspaper on the breakfast table, rather have an discussion. If you want to get her to like newspaper, then try to find something that interests her. Such as, try to find a news about Hijab. Or try to find a news about Muslim women for her.)

10) Be The Best
Always remember the words of Allah's Messenger (pbuh) : "The best of you are those who treat their families the best. And I am the best amongst you to my family."

Try to be the best! In conclusion: Never forget to make Dua to Allah (swt) to make your marriage successful.

And Allah taala knows best!

(And once again: your wife is your best friend, and your girlfriend. Share everything with her. Remember she is your garment and you are her garment, so hide her faults and mistakes. Learn to forgive her. Also communicate a lot with her family. It really makes a difference if husband communicates with his in laws. It helps both husband's and wife's family to share a beautiful relationship. Respect her parents and show your love to her family. This will inspire her to love and respect your family. If her family is not muslim, do dawah to them in a beautiful way.)

Spend lots of time praying to Allah swt. Do fast often even if it is not Ramadan. Fasting brings patience and taqwah. Lead her in the prayer. There is nothing better than praying together. Remember Allah, so that Allah remembers you.

May Allah bless us and guide us all. Ameen!

Subject: Useless - Junk Softwares In Computers

(I have sent this email in ROMAN URDU as well, if you didn't receive it, just send me an email)
Hi and As Salaam O Alaikum,
If you didn't receive / read my previous articles about Junk Files, Temporary Files, Temporary Internet Files, Cache and Internet Cookies, then just send me an email asking for it. Please keep sending me your replies after reading the article and keep asking me the questions about the things which you want to learn about. WHAT I NEED IS JUST A REPLY OR A FEEDBACK FROM YOU GUYS J

Useless / Junk Softwares In Computers
I have previously discussed about Junk Files, Temporary Files, Temporary Internet Files, Cache and Internet Cookies. But there is 1 more thing which I want to discuss with you all. It's about all those softwares which you have installed in your computers.

In Simple Words
When you move to a new house, which is Empty & Clean, you buy new furniture and other accessories for your house and starts filing its space. You keep buying the stuff until it's packed with everything you want. After sometime (when the new things become old) you buy more stuff for your house and keep the old stuff here and there (under the bed, on the roof, in the stores). What you don't realize, so many useless things are just occupying the space for nothing. You realize only when you have to do some re-arrangement or shift to a new apartment / house.

Back to the Point:
When you purchase a computer, the only thing which is installed in your PC is Operating System (sometimes even that you have to do ). Without any software installed, it is super fast and smooth. But after some time, you start installing the softwares and a time comes when your computer doesn't respond to you like before. Ofcourse it's because in your computer so many junk things are occupying the space and making the normal operations difficult for a computer.

Behind the Scenes:
Whenever you install any software, it make some changes in the operating systems (XP, vista, win7) registry keys, system files, running files and at some other locations as well. What we think that it doesn't matter if you just leave the useless softwares in the computers like that, and guess what really happens :

1.    Slowness in computers
2.    Browsers take their own time to open any website
3.    Computer takes its time to log into the windows
4.    Multiple pop-ups screens
5.    Computer won't properly shutdown or even restart
6.    Simple double clicking on a folder even takes time to open it and etc.

There is no harm in downloading a software and testing it. Every now and then we get recommendations from our friends about different softwares. We like to install them, test them, but after some time the software just stay in your PC like forever, even though you know you are not going to use it anymore.

Second biggest problem is, whenever you install any kind of software in your PC, most of the people don't follow the installation instructions. We just keep clicking NEXT NEXT and NEXT, until the installation is FINISH. By following such practice, what really happens is along with that software (which you want to install), some other softwares do get installed as well (most of the time these are browser toolbars), which are not needed at all. A simple ignorance cost a lot

My Advice

1. Atleast once in a month, go to control panel and open Add/Remove programs in WinXP or Programs and Features in Win7, and check  which softwares are installed in your computer and uninstall those which are not required.

2. Please please and please (I don't know how to make you believe that I'm really requesting you) whenever you are installing anything, then be careful and give your full attention to the installation steps. Just don't click Next, Next and Next.

3. Don't install bulk of softwares in your computer. Keep it clean with only those softwares which are required only.

4. Always download the softwares from the authentic / popular websites (cnet, filehippo, zednet etc.)

Last Words
In the next post, we discuss how to uninstall any software from your pc properly, so that it won't leave any kind of traces behind it

Did you like the Article? Was it useful?. Don't Forget to send me your replies / Feedback, which is very necessary

Waiting for your replies. Till then take care.. ALLAH hafiz

FW: Irish Luck

-------Original Message-------
Subject: FW: Irish Luck
His name was Fleming, and he was a poor Scottish farmer. One day, while trying to make a living for his family, he heard a cry for help coming from a nearby bog. He dropped his tools and ran to the bog.

There, mired to his waist in black muck, was a terrified boy, screaming and struggling to free himself. Farmer Fleming saved the lad from what could have been a slow and terrifying death.

The next day, a fancy carriage pulled up to the Scotsman's sparse surroundings An elegantly dressed nobleman stepped out and introduced himself as the father of the boy Farmer Fleming had saved.
'I want to repay you,' said the nobleman. 'You saved my son's life.'
'No, I can't accept payment for what I did,' the Scottish farmer replied waving off the offer. At that moment, the farmer's own son came to the door of the family hovel.

'Is that your son?' the nobleman asked.

'Yes,' the farmer replied proudly.
'I'll make you a deal. Let me provide him with the level of education my own son will enjoy. If the lad is anything like his father, he'll no doubt grow to be a man we both will be proud of.' And that he did.

Farmer Fleming's son attended the very best schools and in time, graduated from St. Mary's Hospital Medical School in London, and went on to become known throughout the world as the noted Sir Alexander Fleming, the discoverer of Penicillin.

Years afterward, the same nobleman's son who was saved from the bog was stricken with pneumonia.

What saved his life this time? Penicillin.

The name of the nobleman? Lord Randolph Churchill. His son's name?
Sir Winston Churchill.

Guarding Your Husband's Honor as a Muslim Wife

Most Muslim Women Are Careless About Their Primary Obligation to Protect Their Husband's Honor.

Traditionally, occupations such as cooking, sewing, fashion designing and interior decorating were considered the exclusive terrain of women.

One domain, though, still remains predominantly women's-only, and that is home-making. This is because it is woman's innate nature to be the master of her home. As manager, guard and coordinator, she happily does the household chores and caters to her family's needs, while the husband, more often than not the chief breadwinner, remains absent throughout the day at work.

Allah has acknowledged this aspect of the functional family unit, by instructing women to be "guards" of their husband's property and honor in the latter's absence:

"Therefore, the righteous women are devoutly obedient (to the husband), and guard in (the husband's) absence what Allah would have them guard…"
[Quran - Surah Al-Nisaa: 34]
Guarding "what Allah would have them guard" implies that a Muslim wife should guard:
  • Her husband's property (house, money, belongings, and anything which he leaves behind),
  • Her own modesty and chastity, and finally,
  • Her husband's honor and reputation.

Guarding her husband's honor would mean not mentioning him, his character, or his deeds to any third person in a derogatory or defaming manner – ever. Although the world generally frowns upon an untidy home in disarray, or a cheating wife flirting with other men, this aspect of a wife's loyalty – her maintaining her husband's honor behind his back – is something even many "good" wives fail to accomplish. Women generally speak well of their husbands to people they are not close to. It's the close relatives and friends, however, who unwittingly cause slips.

  • Be careful of unintentional slips in conversations with other women
Even if there is no major argument between the couple, how often we see Muslim women casually commenting to each other about their husband's shortcomings. Whether on the phone, or during a visit, it is common to hear them complaining about their husbands to their mother, sister, cousin, or best friend. Even if they discuss their husband lovingly, some hidden aspect of the comment, or merely the tone of voice, sometimes carries disdain or derision.
"The plumber came, and I had to rush back home to supervise his work, as [my husband] is totally useless; on Saturdays, he lies in bed all day and does absolutely nothing…"

"My husband snores so loudly, it could scare anyone who hears him in the middle of the night."

"He offers to cook, but his dishes turn out horrible, so I'd rather not eat what he makes…"

"He never takes me shopping; he's always involved in his work."

During the gush of such 'girly' conversations, their husbands' potent faults are unintentionally revealed. The listeners/on-lookers chuckle knowingly, nodding their heads in compassionate comprehension. What they enjoy is the pleasure of knowing that this supposedly "happy" and perfect Muslim couple too, have the usual marital differences; that even seemingly "righteous" couples cannot always live in harmony.

And last but not least, it gives them fodder for gossip.

  • Remember that mentioning your husband's weaknesses might initiate gossip about you:
The gossip-mongers in any social circle dwell on the "juicy" tit-bits regarding other couples' marital discord, for which they fish around in conversation and hearsay. We have all heard the stories about the in-law hovering outside the bedroom door while the husband and wife argued, or the "sincere" friend giving a frustrated wife her shoulder to cry on, only to discuss the account with her other friends later.

  • Remember that protecting the husband's honor is one of Allah's commands for a Muslim wife
What Muslim women should be wise enough to understand is that, by revealing their husband's faults to anyone else, they are disobeying Allah and thus putting themselves at risk of His wrath. They alone, are to lose out by this action.

Even though Islam allows a woman to seek help for major problems in her marriage, it enjoins her to bear all trivial marital problems with patience and discretion. A woman does not get as much respect anywhere in the world as she does in her husband's home: there, she's the queen of her throne, elegant and ethereal. When she defames her husband in any way to a third person, she lowers herself from this high pedestal. She gives people a chance to mock her and discuss her with others, becoming the topic of coffee-table repartee.

  • Beware of the concern of even your biological mothers and sisters – it can sometimes be the cause of your marital troubles
Narrated by Ibn Abbas, Prophet Muhammad [Allah's peace and blessings be upon him] said:
"The best woman (wife) is the one who, when you look at her she pleases you, when you command her she obeys you, and when you are not in her presence, she safeguards herself and your belongings."[Ibn Majah 1861]
Muslim women should be careful about this matter even with their biological sisters and mothers. At the end of the day, no one wants a woman to come and live with them if she gets divorced or estranged from her husband.

They, however, do enjoy listening to her incessantly complain of the problems in her husband's home: how low the finances are, how untidy her husband is, how much he eats, or how he neglects her rights. They might throw bygone incidents in her face even months after she has moved on and forgotten them, so that she starts brimming with indignation all over again, at their mention.

Muslim women should try not to fall prey to the instigation of such "well-wishing" people, who laugh when she mocks her husband, who relish her marital dissensions, who thrive on getting to know other women's domestic troubles. They are devils in disguise, preying on the tranquility of others' homes, seeking juicy coffee-party gossip. Muslim women should beware of disobeying Allah in this regard.

  • Make only righteous, Allah-fearing woman your close confidantes and 'shoulders to cry on'

Even if you have a fight with your husband and you feel you must mention it to someone to feel better, do it with someone who has high taqwa [consciousness of Allah], who will never divulge your story to anyone else. Even your own mother might mention it to her sister, who might tell her daughter, and in this way, the whole family might be discussing your household troubles and commenting about them, weeks or months after the whole thing has blown over.
Remember that in every command of Allah lies a potent hikmah, a hidden wisdom that is beneficial for you. He loves you seventy times more than your well-wishing mother.

Run to Him – in salah [regular Islamic prayer], dua [praying to Him], dhikr [His remembrance by the tongue and heart], and istighfar [seeking His forgiveness for sins] – whenever you have a bone to pick with your husband.

For the solution and the solace after the storm, trust in Allah. If you keep your duty to Him, He will never relinquish you – rather, He will fill your home with unbridled peace, harmony and tranquility.

Caution
  • Dont mix too much with malicious people who tell you other families innate secrets.
  • When you are angry at your husband for some reason, avoid talking to anyone until the anger dissipates. Busy yourself.

Quick Tips
  • Avoid talking unnecessarily on the phone.
  • Maintain a personal journal and write down how you feel when you are angry at your husband.
  • Talk it out with him once you cool down.
