Subject: Decisive Proofs of the Finality of Prophethood [Khatm-e-Nabuwwat]
![]() ![]()
..:: Proof from the Holy Qur'an ::..
The Noble and Exalted Qur'an states:
ما كان محمد أبا أحد من رجالكم ولكن رسول الله وخاتم النبيين وكان الله بكل شيء عليما
Muhammad (Peace and Blessings of Allah be upon Him) is not the father of any man among you – but he is the Noble Messenger of Allah and the Last of the Prophets; and Allah knows all things. [Surah al-Ahzab, Verse 40] This Qur'anic verse is an unequivocally decisive primary text [nass] that there will be no prophet after him. And since there will be no Prophet (Nabi), it follows a fortiori that there will be no Prophetic Messenger (Rasool). Exalted Muslim Scholars, since the time of our beloved Prophet (SallAllahu Alaihi WA Sallam), have correctly understood this verse to indicate that no new prophet or messenger will be sent to humanity until the day of judgment. Following are few interpretations of well-known Muslim Scholars on the finality of prophethood in chronological order. Allama Ibn Jarir Tabari [224-310 AH] interprets:
Muhammad (SallAllahu Alaihi WA Sallam) is the last prophet, the one who has closed up Prophethood or sealed it. This seal will not be opened for anyone till the Day of Judgment. [Tafsir Ibn-e-Jarir, Vol. 22, Page 12]
Imam Abu Hayyan al Andalusi [d. 445 AH] after decisively proving Finality of Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) from Quran and Sunnah writes in his Tafsir Al-Bahr al-Muheet:
A person who has a viewpoint that Prophethood is not closed, or one who thinks that a Wali is superior than Nabi then such a person is Zindeeq (Heretic) and "Wajib al-Qatl". Those who had claimed Prophethood amongst people then Muslims have killed them. [Tafsir Bahr al-Muheet, Under 33:40]
Muhiyy as-Sunnah Baghawi [d. 510 AH] has written:
Allah has closed the line of Prophethood after Prophet Muhammad (SallAllahu Alaihi WA Sallam). Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (Radi Allahu Anhu) says that Allah has declared that there is no Prophet after him [Tafsir Ma'alim at-Tanzil, Vol. 3, Page 158]
![]() Allama Zamakhshari [467-538 AH] has stated:
If you say how can he (SallAllahu Alaihi WA Sallam) be the Last Prophet when Sayyiduna Eisa (Ala Nabiyyina WA Alaihis Salat WA as-Salam) will come in the future ages, I will reply that he (SallAllahu Alaihi WA Sallam) is the Last Prophet in the sense that after him no New Prophet will come; Sayyiduna Eisa (Ala Nabiyyina WA Alaihis Salat WA as-Salam) is one of those Prophets who have already come before him. When Sayyiduna Eisa (Ala Nabiyyina WA Alaihis Salat WA as-Salam) will come again, he will follow the Shari'ah of Prophet Muhammad (SallAllahu Alaihi WA Sallam) and will face Qibla in his Salah; this means that he will come as an individual of this Ummah.
Imam Raazi [543-606 AH] is of the opinion that:
The words Khatam an-Nabiyeen are used to show that the Shari'ah of Islam is complete. The view that no prophet will come after Muahmmad (SallAllahu Alaihi WA Sallam) is also more affectionate too and particular about his (SallAllahu Alaihi WA Sallam) Ummah and gives the significance of the words in more details. This is like the example of a son who has no guardian after his father. [Tafsir al-Kabir, Vol. 6, Page 581]
Allama Baydawi [d. 685 AH] says:
Prophet Muhammad (SallAllahu Alaihi WA Sallam) is the last of all Prophets. He has sealed the Prophethood of all Prophets, or their Prophethood has been sealed by him. It makes no difference that Sayyiduna Eisa (Ala Nabiyyina WA Alaihis Salat WA as-Salam) will come again after him, because he will come as a follower of his (SallAllahu Alaihi wa Sallam) Noble Shari'ah. [Tafsir al-Baydawi, Vol. 2, Page 196]
Allama Nasafi [d. 710 AH] recorded that:
Prophet Muhammad (SallAllahu Alaihi wa Sallam) is at the end of all Prophets (SallAllahu Alaihi wa Sallam); and after him there will be no New Prophet; and Sayyiduna Eisa (Ala Nabiyyina wa Alaihis Salat wa as-Salam) was made a Prophet before him (SallAllahu Alaihi wa Sallam); and when he comes again, he will come as a follower of the Shari'ah of Prophet Muhammad (SallAllahu Alaihi wa Sallam) as if he (Sayyiduna Eisa) were an individual of this Ummah. [Tafsir Madarik al-Tanzil,Vol. 3, Page 234]
Allama Alauddin Khazin [d. 725 AH] has expressed the view that:
Allah has ended the line of Prophethood through him (SallAllahu Alaihi wa Sallam). Therefore, neither there is Prophethood after him, nor any other Prophet during his own time. Indeed, Ibn Abbas has said that Allah has declared there will be no Prophet after him (SallAllahu Alaihi wa Sallam). [Tafsir al-Khazin, Vol. 5, Page 218]
![]() Ibn Kathir [d. 774 AH] comments:
Allah Most Blessed and Exalted has stated in His book, as has His Messenger (Allah bless him and give him peace) in hadiths of numerous channels of transmission (mutawatir) that there will be no prophet after him, so that whoever claims this rank thereafter is a lying (kadhab) pretender (dajjal), misled and misleading, even if he should stage miracles and exhibit all kinds of magic, talismans and spells. [Tafsir Ibn Kathir, Vol. 3, Page 493]
Imam Jalal al-Din Suyuti [d. 911 AH] says:
The words Khatam an-Nabiyyeen mean there will be no new prophet after him (SallAllahu Alaihi wa Sallam) and when Sayyiduna Eisa (Ala Nabiyyina wa Alaihis Salat wa as-Salam) will come again, he will act according to the Shari'ah of Prophet Muhammad (SallAllahu Alaihi wa Sallam). [Jalalayn Ala Hamish Jamal, Vol. 3, Page 442]
Allama Ismail Haqqi [d. 1137 AH] has stated:
Read the phrase Khatam an-Nabiyyeen with the upsound of "Taa" which means the instrument by which something is closed (sealed). The meaning is that he (SallAllahu Alaihi wa Sallam) was the last of all Prophets by whom the office of all Prophets has been sealed. In Persian, "Seal of Prophets" means that by him the doors of Prophethood have been sealed, and the line of Prophethood terminated once and for all. Some other scholars have read this with a down sound of "Taa" which indicates he was "Khatim" in the sense of "Fa'ail". In Persian, it will mean the one who seals (ends) the prophets, in which case, the meaning is the same. [Tafsir Rooh al-Bayan, Vol. 22 Page 188]
Qadhi Thanaullah Panipatti [d. 1255 AH] writes in his Tafsir al-Mazhari:
Khatam has been mentioned (in this Aayah) in the meaning of Aakhir (Last) and someone who came to bring an end to something as Last Nabi after whom no Prophet will come. [Tafsir al-Mazhari, Vol. 9, Page 266]
Allama Aaloosi [d. 1270 AH] writes:
Hadrat Muhammad (SallAllahu Alaihi wa Sallam) is also Khatim al-Mursaleen meaning that after his Prophethood there will be no Prophethood at all. [Tafsir Rooh al-Ma'ani, Vol. 22, Page 23]

..:: Proofs from the overwhelming Ahadith ::..
Narrated Sayyiduna Abu Huraira (Radi Allahu Anhu): The Prophet (SallAllahu Alaihi wa Sallam) said,
"The Children of Israel used to be ruled and guided by prophets: Whenever a prophet died, another would take over his place. There will be no prophet after me, but there will be Caliphs who will increase in number." The people asked, "O Allah's Apostle! What do you order us (to do)?" He said, "Obey the one who will be given the pledge of allegiance first. Fulfil their (i.e. the Caliphs) rights, for Allah will ask them about (any shortcoming) in ruling those Allah has put under their guardianship." [Sahih al-Bukhari, Vol. 4, Hadith 661]
Narrated Sayyiduna Sa'ad (Radi Allahu Anhu):
Allah's Apostle (SallAllahu Alaihi wa Sallam) set out for Tabuk appointing Sayyiduna 'Ali as his deputy (in Madinah). Hadrat 'Ali said, "Do you want to leave me with the children and women?" The Prophet said, "Will you not be pleased that you will be to me like Aaron to Moses? But there will be no prophet after me." [Sahih al-Bukhari, Vol. 5, Hadith 700]
Narrated Sayyiduna Abu Huraira (Radi Allahu Anhu): Allah's Apostle (SallAllahu Alaihi wa Sallam) said,
"The Hour will not be established (1) till two big groups fight each other whereupon there will be a great number of casualties on both sides and they will be following one and the same religious doctrine, (2) till about thirty dajjals (liars) appear, and each one of them will claim that he is Allah's Apostle, (3) till the religious knowledge is taken away (by the death of Religious scholars) (4) earthquakes will increase in number (5) time will pass quickly, (6) afflictions will appear, (7) Al-Harj, (i.e., killing) will increase, (8) till wealth will be in abundance..." [Sahih al-Bukhari, Vol. 9, Page 237]
Narrated Sayyiduna Isma'il (Radi Allahu Anhu):
I asked Abi Aufa, "Did you see Ibrahim, the son of the Prophet?" He said, "Yes, but he died in his early childhood. Had there been a Prophet after Muhammad then his son would have lived, but there is no Prophet after him." [Sahih al-Bukhari, Vol. 8, Page 214]
Narrated Hadrat Sayyidah Ayesha (Radi Allahu Anha):
"Prophethood will NOT continue after me, except the harbingers of good news". They asked "What are the harbingers of good news, O Apostle of Allah?." He replied: "Virtuous and pious dreams a Muslim sees or are shown to him". [Musnad of Imam Ahmad ibn Hanbal]
Narrated Abu Huraira: Allah's Apostle (SallAllahu Alaihi wa Sallam) said,
"My similitude in comparison with the other prophets before me, is that of a man who has built a house nicely and beautifully, except for a place of "ONE" brick in a corner. The people go about it and wonder at its beauty, but say: 'Would that this brick be put in its place!' So I am that brick, and I am the last of the Prophets."
Sahih al-Bukhari, Vol. 4, Hadith 735 Sahih Muslim, Hadith 5675 Musnad Ahmad, Hadith 7479 Sunan al-Bayhaqi, Hadith 11422 Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (Radi Allahu Anhu) narrates from the Prophet (SallAllahu Alaihi wa Sallam) who said:
The Messengership and Prophethood have ended and there will be no Messenger and Prophet after me.
Sunnan Tirimdhi, Hadith 2274 Musnad Ahmad bin Hanbal, Vol. 3, Page 467 Mustadrak ala al-Sahihayn lil Hakim, Vol. 4, Page 391 Sayyiduna Abu Huraira (Radi Allahu Anhu) reported that the Messenger of Allah (SallAllahu Alaihi wa Sallam) said:
I have been given superiority over the other prophets in six respects: I have been given words which are concise but comprehensive in meaning; I have been helped by terror (in the hearts of enemies); spoils have been made lawful to me; the earth has been made for me clean and a place of worship; I HAVE BEEN SENT TO ALL MANKIND AND THE LINE OF PROPHETS IS CLOSED WITH ME. [Sahih, Muslim, Hadith 1062]
The Prophet (SallAllahu Alaihi wa Sallam) said:
Allah has not sent any Prophet who did not warn his nation about Dajjal, but Now "I AM THE LAST OF PROPHETS" and you are the last Ummah, he will for sure arise from amongst you. [Sunan Ibn Majah, Hadith 4067]
The Prophet of Allah (SallAllahu Alaihi wa Sallam) said:
I was Last Prophet in (sight) of Allah when Adam's Khameer was being created. [Shu'ab al-Iman, Vol. 2, Page 134]
![]() Hadrat Jabir bin Abdullah (Radi Allahu Anhu) narrates that the Prophet (SallAllahu Alaihi wa Sallam) said:
I am the leader of all Prophets and there is no boast, I am the Last of all Prophets and there is no boast. [Sunnan al-Daarimi, Hadith 50]
Hadrat Abdullah bin Umar (Radi Allahu Anhu) narrates:
Once the Prophet (SallAllahu Alaihi wa Sallam) came to us in a way as If he is leaving us, then he said thrice: I am Muhammad the Ummi Prophet (SallAllaho Alaihi wa Sallam) and there is no Prophet after me. [Musnad Ahmed bin Hanbal, Vol. 2, Page 172]
The Prophet (SallAllahu Alaihi wa Sallam) said:
There is no Prophet after me, and there is no Ummah after you, so you should worship your Lord and say your five daily prayers, and fast in your month (Ramadan), obey your leaders and thus enter the Blessed garden of your Lord. [Mu'jam al-Kabir, Vol. 8, Hadith 7217]
Narrated Jubayr bin Mutim: Allah's Apostle (SallAllahu Alaihi wa Sallam) said,
"I have five names: I am Muhammad and Ahmad; I am Al-Mahi through whom Allah will eliminate infidelity; I am Al-Hashir who will be the first to be resurrected, the people being resurrected there after; "AND I AM ALSO AL-AQIB (i.e. THERE WILL BE NO PROPHET AFTER ME)." [Sahih al-Bukhari, Vol. 4, Hadith 732]
Hadrat Ibn Abbas (Radi Allahu Anhu) narrates that the Prophet (SallAllahu Alaihi wa Sallam) said:
I am Ahmad, Muhammad, Hashir, Muqaffi (One who is sent in the last) and I am Khaatim. [Mu'jam al-Saghir, Hadith 152]
Now, the above is just a small portion of the vast amount of mutawatir evidence that proves conclusively that there are no prophets after the Prophet Muhammad (Allah bless him and give him peace), if someone believe that there is a prophet after him he is a kafir. There is absolutely and utterly no room for any doubt in this matter. In the face of such overwhelming evidence then why is it that the Qadianis persist in their misguided and misguiding belief? ![]()
..:: Consensus of Muslim Scholars and Ummah ::..
Throughout the centuries, Muslim Scholars have unanimously supported the fundamental doctrine of Finality of Prophethood in Prophet Muhammad (SallAllahu Alaihi wa Sallam). So much so, that the entire Ummah has recognized anyone who claims to be a prophet (in any capacity), supports someone else's claim to prophethood, or views such claimant as a religious leader, to be an unbeliever (Kafir). Imam Qadhi Iyadh al-Maaliki (Alaihir Rahmah), the author of magnificent Seerah work i.e. Al-Shifa, writes:
We declare that person as Kafir who considers someone along with you or after you as a Prophet, just like this we also declare him Kafir who claims that Revelation (Wahi) is sent to him even if he does not claim propethood, Thus all such people are disbeleivers because they do Takdhib of Prophet (i.e. call him liar – Na'udhu Billah). The Prophet (Peace Be Upon Him) has informed us that he is Khatam al-Nabiyyeen and no prophet will come after him and that he has been sent to all people. The ummah is unanimous that this Kalaam is to be taken on its apparent and there is no room for any Ta'weel, or Takhsees and the Kufr of such people is Qat'i (i.e. Definite) Ijma'i (i.e. Unanimously Agreed). [Ash-Shifa, Page 237-238]
The great Hanafi Imams, Allama Khafaji (Alaihir Rahmah) and Mullah Ali Qari (Alaihir Rahmah) have also endorced this strongly in Naseem ar-Riyadh, Vol. 6, Page 355-256 and Sharh ash-Shifa Vol. 2, Page 515-516. Hujjatul Islam Imam Muhammad al-Ghazzali (Rahimuhullah) have stated:
We have known through "Consensus" that La Nabi B'adi (There is no Prophet after me) proves that the door to Prophethood has been permanently closed after Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) and the word "Khatam an-Nabiyyeen" also includes all Anbiya. We are thus certain that there is no room for any kind of Ta'weel (interpolation) or Takhsees (to make specific such as Nabi could come in this form or that form – Na'udhu Billah). Whosoever does Ta'weel in this hadith then he is Munkir of Consensus. [Al-Iqtisad fil I'tiqad, Page 163]
Imam Ibn Qudama al-Maqdisi, the great Hanbali Imam said:
Whosoever claims Prophethood or one who accepts his claim then (both) become Apostates because when Musaylama Kaddhab claimed to be Prophet and his people testified to it then all of them became apostates along with him. [Al-Mugni, Vol. 9, Page 33]
Imam al-Tahawi [d. 321 AH] states:
"Every claim to prophethood after him is falsehood and deceit." [al-Aqidah al-Tahawiyya]
This is the greatest favour of Allah Almighty upon this Ummah that He has perfected for them their religion. Therefore, they will not be needful of a religion other than Islam nor of another Prophet other than their Prophet. May Allah's peace and blessings be upon him. This is why Allah has made him the last and final Prophet and sent him to both the humans and the Jinns. The sheer amount of evidence provided here should suffice to convince anyone believing in the divinity of Islam that the Prophet Muhammad (SallAllahu Alaihi wa Sallam) is the last Prophet of Allah and that anyone with a claim to prophethood should be considered an outcast from Islam. | ||

Fw: Rewards for Sickness
-------Original Message-------
"May the Peace and Blessings of Allah be Upon You"
Praise be to Allaah, we seek His help and His forgiveness. We seek refuge with Allaah from the evil of our own souls and from our bad deeds. Whomsoever Allaah guides will never be led astray, and whomsoever Allaah leaves astray, no one can guide. I bear witness that there is no god but Allaah, and I bear witness that Muhammad is His slave and Messenger.
Bismillah Walhamdulillah Was Salaatu Was Salaam 'Ala Rasulillah
As-Salaam Alaikum Wa-Rahmatullahi Wa-Barakatuhu
Rewards for Sickness One should not look to sickness as a gloomy episode, but should remember the great good in it. It is one form of affliction with which Allah (SWT) tests His servants, giving them a chance to acquire rewards, as was explained above, as is further emphasized below.
Removal of Sins and Elevation in Ranks
Abu Hurayrah (RA) reported that the Prophet (SAW) said: "Whenever a Muslim is afflicted by harm from sickness or other matters, Allah will drop his sins because of that, like a tree drops its leaves." [Bukhari and Muslim] Abu Saeed al-Khudree (RA) reported that the Prophet (SAW) said: "A Muslim is not afflicted by hardship, sickness, sadness, worry, harm, or depression - even if pricked by a thorn, but Allah expiates his sins because of that." [Bukhari and Muslim] Aishah (RA) narrated that once some pain afflicted the Prophet (SAW) causing him to suffer and turn about in his bed. She said: "Had one of us done this, you would have blamed him." He (SAW) replied: " An ailment is intensified for the righteous. Whenever a believer is afflicted by a hardship, whether it is a thorn or more, a sin is taken off from him because of it, and he is elevated by one rank (in Jannah). " [Ahmad]
Retaining Rewards for Deeds Before Sickness
Usually, when a believer falls sick, he would not be able to do the same amount of good (prayer, fasting, helping Muslims etc) that he used to do when he was well. But Allah out of His great mercy, continues to record for him the good deeds that he was forced to stop because of his sickness. Abu Moosa Al-Asharee narrated that the Prophet (SAW) said: "For a traveling or sick person, his deeds will be recorded in accordance with what he used to do when he was resident or well." [Bukhari] Abdullah Bin Amr reported that the Prophet said: "No (believing) person gets sick, but (his deeds) will be recorded for him in accordance with what he used to do when he was well." [Bukhari] Uqbah Bin Aamir reported that the Prophet (SAW) said: "Each days deeds are sealed with it. Thus, when a believer gets sick, the angels say, " Our lord! Your servant such and such, You have restrained him (from doing good this day)." And the lord replies, " Seal his day in accordance with his (usual) deeds, until he is cured or dies". [Ahmad]
Reason for the Reward
Atta Bin Rabaah reported that Ibn Abbaas (RA) told him, "Do you want to see a woman from the people of Jannah (paradise)?" He said "Yes". He said: " It is this black woman. She had came to the Prophet (SAW) saying, " I have (epileptic) seizures, and I get exposed, so supplicate to Allah for me." He (SAW) said: " If you wish, be patient and you will attain Jannah; or if you wish, I will ask Allah to cure you." She replied, " I will be patient ! But my body gets exposed (because of the fall), so supplicate to Allah for me that I do not become exposed." and he (SAW) did." [Bukhari and Muslim] The scholars have differed in opinion as to whether a sick person will be rewarded for the sickness itself or for being patient during it. The correct opinion is that if he is patient and submits to Allah's will, as in the above hadith, he would be rewarded for both the submission and the sickness, otherwise, he would not be rewarded at all; because he resented Allah's decree. This is what should be understood from Ibn hajar al-Asqalaanees words: "The authentic hadeeths are clear in that the rewards are recorded once affliction strikes a Muslim. As for patience and acceptance, they are virtues for which a person may get additional rewards over those for the affliction." 'Abdullah Bin 'Amr reported that the Prophet (SAW) said: "If a Muslim is pricked by (as little as) a thorn in the worldly life, and he seeks its reward from Allah, some of his sins will be removed, because of it, on the Day of Judgement."[ Bukhari ] "True believers are only those whose hearts are filled with awe whenever God is mentioned, and whose faith is strengthened whenever His revelations are recited to them. In their Lord do they place their trust." (Chapter 8: Verse 2) Also Read A Blessing in Disguise
Etiquettes of Visiting the Sick
By Asma bint Shameem
Every now and then, someone we know gets sick. So it is important to know the rulings and etiquettes of visiting the sick from an Islamic point of view.
Ruling on visiting the sick
Visiting the sick is a fard kifaayah or a communal obligation. (i.e. when someone in the community falls sick, some of the Muslims must go and visit him. Otherwise, the whole community will be sinful).(al- Ikhtiyaaraat by Ibn Taymiyyah) This is based on the order of the Prophet (pbuh) : "Feed the hungry, visit the sick and free the captives." (Bukhaari)
The rewards for visiting the sick
The Messenger of Allaah (pbuh) said: 1) "When the Muslim visits his (sick) Muslim brother, he is harvesting the fruits of Paradise until he returns." (Muslim) 2) "Whoever visits a sick person or visits a brother in Islam, a caller cries out to him: 'May you be happy, may your walking be blessed, and may you occupy a dignified position in Paradise '." (Tirmidhi- hasan by al-Albaani) 3) "Whoever visits a sick person is plunging into mercy until he sits down, and when he sits down he is submerged in it." (Ahmad-- Saheeh by al-Albaani) 4) "There is no Muslim who visits a (sick) Muslim early in the morning but seventy thousand angels send blessings upon him until evening comes, and if he visits him in the evening, seventy thousand angels send blessings upon him until morning comes, and he will have a garden in Paradise." (Saheeh al-Tirmidhi. )
Who to visit
Visit those whom you know, as well as those whom you do not know. (Muslim).
The scholars say that you may visit non-mahrams as long as there is proper covering, no risk of fitnah, and no Khalwa (being alone together). (Islam-qa)
You may visit non-Muslims as well since the Prophet (pbuh) visited a Jewish boy and called him to Islam, and he became Muslim. (Bukhaari).
Who is considered a sick person
If the sickness is preventing the person from seeing people, going out, etc., then the scholars say he is considered a sick person and one should try and visit him. However, if he is sick but he is still going about his work, seeing people, etc., then it is not obligatory to visit him. (Al-Sharh al-Mumti')
Principles to be followed when visiting
Make Dua for the sick person
"La bas, tuhûr in sha Allâh"
(No worry, it is a purification, if Allah wills)." (Bukhaari.)
"Adhhib al-ba's Rabb an-nâs, wa'shfi anta al-Shâfi, lâ shifâ'a illa shifâ'uka shifâ'an lâ yughâdir saqaman "
(Take away the pain, O Lord of mankind, and grant healing, for You are the Healer, and there is no healing but Your healing that leaves no trace of sickness)." (Muslim)
'As alu Allâha rabb al-arsh il-azîm an yashfiyaka
(I ask Allaah, Lord of the mighty Throne, to heal you), Allaah will heal him of that sickness.) (Saheeh Abi Dawûd.)
May Allah enable us to understand and appreciate the Sunnah and apply it, not just in this matter, but in each and every walk of our life. Ameen.

Haafiz Abu Nuaim Isfahani narrates in Khalifatul Abraar on the authority of Umar bin Midqaam, "When I used to look at Hadrat Imam Jaafar Saadiq Radi Allahu Ta'ala Anhu then I used to immediately feel that he was from amongst the descendants of the Prophets"
EXCELLENCE: He was without doubt the true successor to the Muslim empire and one of the greatest Imams of his era. Imam Jaafar Saadiq Radi Allahu Ta'ala Anhu was a great Aabid and Sufi. Many secrets of Tasawwuf were explained by him. It is in Tabqaatul Abraar, that he received the authority of Hadith from his blessed father, from Imam Zuhri and Naaf'i and ibn Munkadir etc. and Sufyaan Sawri, Ibn Ainiyyah, Shu'ba, Yahya Al Qataan, Imam Maalik and his son Imam Moosa Kaazim (ridwaanullahi ta aala alaihim ajmaeen) attained this authority of Hadith from him. Allama Ibn Hajar Makki Radi Allahu Ta'ala Anhu writes in Sawaa'iq Muhariqa . "The exalted Imams such as Yahya Bin Saeed, Ibn Jareeh, Imam Maalik ibn Anas, Imam Sufyaan Sawri, Sufyan bin Ainiyyah, Imam Abu Hanifa and Abu Ayoob Sajistani (ridwaanullahi ta aala alaihim ajmaeen) took Hadith from him." [Masaalik as-Saalikeen]
HIS CHARACTER: He was a very exalted and pious personality. His inner and outer appearance exuded brightness and radiance. He addressed the poor and the downtrodden with great love. Once he called all his servants and said, "Let us give our hands in the hands of one another and promise that whichever one of us first receives salvation on the day of Qiyaamah, he will intercede for the rest of us." On hearing this, they said, "O Ibn Rasool SallAllahu Alaihi wa Sallam! For what reason do you need our intercession, when your beloved forefather Rasoolullah SallAllahu Alaihi wa Sallam will intercede for the entire creation?" He then said, "I am ashamed to take my deeds and stand before my forefather, the Holy Prophet SallAllahu Alaihi wa Sallam."
Once Hadrat Dawood Taa'ee Radi Allahu Ta'ala Anhu came to Hadrat Jaafar Saadiq Radi Allahu Ta'ala Anhu and said, "Beloved descendant of the Prophet SallAllahu Alaihi wa Sallam please give some advice, as my heart has become dark." Hadrat Jaafar Radi Allahu Ta'ala Anhu said, "O Abu Sulaiman! You are great Zaahid of your era. What need do you have for my advice?" Hadrat Dawood Taa'ee Radi Allahu Ta'ala Anhu said, "O descendant of the Prophet SallAllahu Alaihi wa Sallam, You have been blessed with excellence amongst people and to advise everyone is compulsory upon you." He then said, "O Abu Sulaiman! I fear that on the day of Qiyaamah, my forefather Muhammadur Rasoolullah SallAllahu Alaihi wa Sallam will hold me by my collar and ask, 'Why were you slow in fulfilling your right to submission?' What will I say then? Thus, this deed (of advice) does not depend on ones stature or family lineage, but it deals with good deeds which are done in the Court of Allah." Hadrat Dawood Radi Allahu Ta'ala Anhu heard this and began to weep. He then said, "O Allah! When such a great personality, who is the descendant of a Prophet SallAllahu Alaihi wa Sallam, and whose reality is filled with light and wisdom, and whose great grandmother is Bibi Faatima, is so afraid of his future and condition, then what right does Dawood Taa'ee have do be proud of his deeds?" [Masaalik as-Saalikeen]

Hadrat Laith says, "By Allah, he was still competing his dua, when I saw a basket of grapes kept before him, whereas it was not event the grape season and I did not see an grapes near him before his dua. I also saw that there were two pieces of cloth kept near the grapes. I have never seen such beautiful material before. He then sat down to eat the grapes. I went up to him and said, Huzoor! May I also have a part in this?, and he asked how this was so, so I said, I was saying Aameen as you made the dua. He said, 'Well then, step forward and join me.' I also began to partake in the grapes. They were so tasty, that never have I eaten such delicious grapes. I ate until I was satisfied, but the basket still remained as it was before, full of grapes. He then offered on piece of cloth to me, and I said that I had no need for it, so he tied one around his waist, and he draped the other over his shoulder. He then descended from the mountain and I followed him. As he drew close to Saffa and Marwa, a beggar called out to him and said, 'O Descendant of the Prophet SallAllahu Alaihi wa Sallam! Give these clothes to me and Allah will dress you in the clothes of Jannat." He immediately gave the two pieces of cloth to the beggar. (On seeing this), I enquired about the identity of this pious man from the beggar, who informed me that he was Hadrat Jaafar Saadiq Radi Allahu Ta'ala Anhu. I then looked for him so that I may listen to some words of wisdom from him and attain his blessings, but he had disappeared from my sight." [Tazkirat al-Awliya, Page 12]
Once, some people saw that Hadrat Jaafar Radi Allahu Ta'ala Anhu was wearing a very expensive robe. One of them walked up to him and said, "Huzoor! It is not good for the Ahle Bait to wear such expensive clothing." He caught hold of the man's hand and thrust it into his sleeves. The man was amazed when he found that a Hadrat was wearing clothes make from sacks under his robe. Hadrat Jaafar Radi Allahu Ta'ala Anhu then said, "The one inside is for my Creator and the one on top is for the creation."
A man once lost his purse which contained one thousand dinaars. Imam Jaafar Radi Allahu Ta'ala Anhu was walking close to him, so he held the hand of the Imam and accused him of stealing his money. Hadrat Imam Jaafar Radi Allahu Ta'ala Anhu asked how much he had in his money bag, and the man said that he had one thousand dinaars. Hadrat took him home and gave him one thousand dinaars from his wealth. The next day, the man found his money bag, and came rushing to Hadrat Imam Jaafar Saadiq Radi Allahu Ta'ala Anhu to return the money he had taken from him. Hadrat Imam Jaafar Radi Allahu Ta'ala Anhu said, "We do not take back what we have already given." The man then asked some people who this person was, and he was told that it was Hadrat Imam Jaafar Saadiq Radi Allahu Ta'ala Anhu. When he heard this, he became very sad and regretted his behavior. [Tazkirat al-Awliya]
DEBATE WITH AN ATHEIST: Hadrat Jaafar Radi Allahu Ta'ala Anhu spent a lot of his time spreading the word of Allah and His Rasool SallAllahu Alaihi wa Sallam. He always spoke against those who did not believe in Allah. An atheist from Egypt came to Hadrat Jaafar Saadiq Radi Allahu Ta'ala Anhu whilst he was in Makkah. Hadrat Jaafar Saadiq Radi Allahu Ta'ala Anhu asked his name and he said that his name was Abdul Malik and he was also known as Abdullah. On hearing this Hadrat said, "Malik, whose servant you are, is he from the Kingdom of the Skies or the Kingdom of the earth, the Lord that is the Lord of your son, is he the Lord of the skies or the Lord of the Earths?" The atheist could not answer this question. Hadrat then said, "Did you ever journey under the earth? Do you know what is beyond it?" He replied in the negative and said, "I think there is nothing beyond it." Hadrat then said to him, "Thinking is not sufficient! However, have you ever flown into the skies and journeyed beyond the skies?" Again he replied in the negative. Hadrat said, "Did you ever travel the entire East and West and did you realise anything about the future from this?" Again he answered in the negative. Hadrat said, "I am amazed, that you are not aware of the earth and what is beneath it, and the sky and what is beyond it, and in this state of ignorance, you still have the arrogance to reject the existence of Allah. O Ignorant man! There is no argument for one who is naive about that which is a reality. The sun, the moon, the night and day, are all in a specific pattern. Verily they are within some divine control. If they were free, then they would move as they willed and would sometimes go to an appointed spot and not return. Why is it that the night does not take the place of day and the day does not take the place of night? Do you not ponder upon the reality of the skies and the earth? Why does the sky not come to the earth and why is it that the earth is not flattened by the sky? There is definitely ONE, who has all this in His Divine Control. It is He (Allah) who is All Powerful. It is He, who is our and their Lord." When the atheist heard this, he immediately accepted Islam and had faith in the existence of Allah.
IMAM-E-AZAM ABU HANIFA: Hadrat Imam Azam Abu Hanifa Radi Allahu Ta'ala Anhu attained great blessings from Hadrat Imam Jaafar Saadiq Radi Allahu Ta'ala Anhu. It is narrated that once he asked Imam Abu Hanifa Radi Allahu Ta'ala Anhu concerning who is an intelligent person. Hadrat Imam Abu Hanifa Radi Allahu Ta'ala Anhu said, "He who can differentiate between good and evil is an intelligent man." Hadrat Imam Jaafar Radi Allahu Ta'ala Anhu said, "Even animals have the ability to differentiate. It can differentiate between those who love them, beat them or instill fear in them?" Imam Abu Hanifa Radi Allahu Ta'ala Anhu then said, "O Hadrat! Would you please explain who is truly intelligent?" Hadrat Imam Jaafar Radi Allahu Ta'ala Anhu said, "An intelligent person, is one who can differentiate between two good things and two evils, so that he may choose the better of two good things and that he may be able to repel the worse of two evils."

After the man returned from Hajj, he went to meet Hadrat Imam Jaafar Saadiq Radi Allahu Ta'ala Anhu. Hadrat Jaafar Radi Allahu Ta'ala Anhu told him that he had purchased his mansion and then handed the title deed over to him. The title deed read as follows : "One wall of the house is adjoined to the house of the Prophet SallAllahu Alaihi wa Sallam, the other wall is adjoined to the house of Hadrat Ali Radi Allahu Ta'ala Anhu, the third wall is adjoined to the house of Imam Hassan Radi Allahu Ta'ala Anhu and the fourth wall is adjoined to the house of Imam Hussain Radi Allahu Ta'ala Anhu." After his demise, his family members found the title deed on the top of his grave and on the rear of the title deed the following words were written,

The Khalifa did not take heed and had Hadrat Imam Jaafar Radi Allahu Ta'ala Anhu summoned. When Hadrat Imam Jaafar Radi Allahu Ta'ala Anhu arrived, the servants waited for their cue, so that they may martyr Imam Jaafar Radi Allahu Ta'ala Anhu. Instead, Mansoor woke up from his throne and rushed towards the Imam. He brought him towards his throne and allowed him to sit on it with great respect, whilst he sat on the ground in front of the great Imam. The servants and ministers were surprised to see this sudden change in plan. Mansoor then asked the Imam if he had any requests. Imam Jaafar Radi Allahu Ta'ala Anhu said,"In future you should not summon me to your court, as I wish to remain engrossed in Ibaadat."
When he heard these words, his body began to tremble and he allowed the Imam to leave with respect. When the Imam left, the minister asked about the sudden change in plan and Mansoor said, "When Imam Jaafar Radi Allahu Ta'ala Anhu entered my court, I saw a huge python with him. The python had its one lip over my throne and one under my throne, and it spoke to me and said that if I tried to ever harm the Imam, then he would consume me with my throne, and that is why I behaved in the manner which I did."
